I just receive my 16 litre case of Mobil Delvac 1300 Super SAE 15w-40.
Canadians can not purchase Oils that our American Members have access to and it appears that the Canadian EPA is strictly enforcing pollution standards. Canadians can not order Oils and have them shipped across the border. ZDDP additives like ZDDP Plus and Camshield are not available.
After 2 months on the phone talking to various Oil Company Agents here in Canada trying to find Oil with a descent ZDDP content I was assured that the Delvac 1300 Super SAE 15w-40 was CI-4 Plus rated and would contain at least a Sulphated Ash % of ZN @ 1200 ppm and P @ 1140 ppm. Not being able to find an Oil product with a higher rating I ordered a case but after it arrived the API label said API Service CJ-4, CI-4, CH-4SM / CI-4Plus and noted that it was also SL Rated. Of course I immediately got on the phone once more with an Imperial Oil Representative and repeated every darn thing once more and wanted to know what the ZN and P content was. After 20 minutes of “hum’s and haw’s” he finally comes up with an approximate figure stating that it has to be at least 1000ppm but would not expect it to be over 1100 as the process is not that accurate. Of course I was rather pissed off. Although Delvac 1300 Super sells for $3.60/ liter, the 16 liter case eventually cost me over $100 which was over twice the price/liter by the time I paid for Tax and Shipping and I did not get the CI-4 Plus product that I thought I was purchasing because of their misinformation.
I heard the word “UNFORTUNATELY” many times in the conversation; but I did manage to keep him on the phone long enough to do some proper research on the subject and this is what we came up with:
ESSO XD-3 EXTRA CI-4 Plus without the CJ-4 Rating
Sulphated ASH %; ZN:1500 P:1370 (NICE)
NOTE: There are two ESSO XD-3 EXTRA's - DO NOT GET the CJ-4

Imperial Oil Phone #:1-800-268-3183
I asked him how long will this product be on the market and he replied that it is presently scheduled for 2 years.
OK now for our Muncies where Sulphated GL-5 Crap will eat away our Brass Syncro’s
Imperial Oil has Marvelube Gear Oils GL-1 Rated Mineral Oil SAE 80w-90
DO NOT get the Dynagear Extra as it is GL-5 and GL-6 containing Sulfur.
Follow the ‘Marvelube” link.
I asked him were I could purchase these products and he assured me that ESSO Stations and probably most Truck Stops should carry them but if they don’t, should be able to order them.
I am NOT pushing ESSO products but it seems this is the ONLY available FT DINO Oil readily available for Canadians with descent ZDDP content.
Another thing: It seems Imperial Oil, Mobil and ESSO are all the same Company and associated by Divisions.
I hope this will help our Canadian Members.
NOTE: It seems British Columbia is an exception and perhaps Alberta where US Oil Products can be shipped across the Border but it can NOT be done in Ontario or the rest of Canada from the information I have gathered; besides, the Canadian Loony has lost 20 cents on the dollar in the last month - so much for Free Trade.
