I was told when I bought the car it had a 4 speed muncie and my brother who suprised me (15yrs old) says its not a Muncie. Is this a good trans? I know little about these 4 speeds any and all info would be great thanks ahead of time!

what do the numbers mean?

T-10's are good tranny depending on your HP numbers. Was there a tag on one of the bolts on the side cover? Those numbers are the easiest way to decode the tranny.

Your tail pics designate a Sept. 21, 1962 1st design GM T10. The raised Cheverolet "Bow-tie" is Corvette. Usually the 16 spline mainshafts are twisted and need replacing.

If the dates of the case and sidecover are close to the tail, the Corvette guys might be interested.

There is no tab on any of the bolts so is there another way to Id the trans?

Did you read my first post? Your lil' bro is right, this is a T10, not a Muncie.
