Wow nice car !! But the tag look's like it's hot off the press. If I owned it there would be rubber all over the rear quarters.:D

To answer your question terjohn, yes it is absoulutely an authentic 1969 Camaro. I can certify it as that.

True dat. I wonder why every picture is clear as day however, the trim tag is blurry.

Nice car though

Very nice car but the statement is misleading

"THE CROSS RAM INTAKE IS ALSO AN ORIGINAL NOT AN ADDED AFTERMARKET"

Might be an Org GM setup but was added

I don't know if you are joking or serious. If you are seriou, on what basis is the car certified as authentic and where is Z/28 heaven for a LOCATION?

I *think* he was joking, stating that he is sure that it is an authentic "69 camaro" not that it was a real Z. :)

See how word plays can mislead?

:)

Thanks for the clarification. It is a awesome car. I just got an emil from the seller. I hd inquired if Jerry MacNeish had seen the car since he has no paperwork. I found it a bit strange that he said that I was welcome to have Jerry look at it. I replied that it would be to his advantage to be able to say Jerry had certfied it and not the potential buyers responsibility. I oaid to have Jerry certify My 69 RS Z/28, and I believe that is added value. Just my .02

Nice car, but would like to see that trim tag better and see the stampings on the engine, trans and rear. Looks like the chambered exhaust was added since it's a June car and that option was cancelled by then. Makes you wonder what else might have been added. If you're looking for maximum money, you should have some good pictures of the components.

Apparently even Jerry can be fooled. Not saying he would for this car. But there is a certain car in question.

I was being facetious. I am an amateur not a pro. But the question was on the "authenticity of this camaro". About all I could certify to was 1969 Camaro.

My guess after looking at every blasted one on this site is fake tag. Just based on the blurry view of the tag. Come on, any real seller of a car of this alleged caliber could get a good shot of the TT.

Listing is gone. I think this site is getting monitored heavily by cheater sellers.

If you are referring to the recent spate of posts over the green 69 RS Z/28 from the BJ auction, there was nothing in those threads (other than a few rash statements from individuals who could not substantiate their opinions with facts) to suggest that Jerry was fooled - only that he didn't publish the results of his review to anyone other than the person who paid for his services. Which is as it should be.

No one knows what is conatined in JM's report on the BJ car. To say he "missed" the other car at this time is just plain wrong.

JM has already gone on record as saying the drivetrain is not the born with components.

Point taken. But if someone wants to fake a car and they know Camaros well enough, a expert "could" be fooled. As was mentioned you cant remove paint to see if vins have been welded in and real trim tags are sold occasionally.

Thanks for all the input,i just had to be sure even as a novice the trim tag looked like it was hot of the press,it is really sad that these types of scams happen all the time, separating hard earned money from honest folks

Just spoke with the individual that sold the car to the current seller. He said he sold it as a recreation and that was noted on the bill of sale. He added he has tred to call the current seller and his phone calls are not returned. I smell a strong stink.

Here is his tirade on the JL8:

"Q: Hello, Do you know for sure if this is an real jl8 cross ram z28? Born-in the same car? how do you know if? I am very interested. thank u. Oct-29-08
A: I will post for all to see. Please read the listing again. No where have I described the car as something she is or is not. The JL8 rear axle is real, the crossram is real, she IS restored to the VERY HIGHEST LEVEL of QUALITY & CORRECTNESS. She has been scrutinized by many Camaro experts who all verify the correctness of the car right down to the hose clamps. She IS worth every penny you are willing to bid. I have NOT & do NOT claim & can NOT prove this is a real, born in car, Z/28 RS JL8. I knew & considered this when I bought it. However, the trim tag is not a fake, the numbers & dates all match, both in castings & stampings. If she is not real then someone has went to great lengths & astronomical costs to clone so authentic. The rear axle had to come from one of the 206 Chevrolet produced in 69 it is NOT aftermarket. The Cross ram is vintage but never was a crossram installed on the assembly line (DEALER ADD ONLY). I suggest to you and all watching to bid accordingly, considering the quality, craftmanship, and what it would cost to build this car from scratch using all original body. I have been told by several Camaro experts that if she had documentation she would bring way more than $250K upwards of $500K. If She had paperwork who could afford it? Very few. It is not necessary for those only interested in docs to bid. Auction is not to create strife. So, BID as if it is what it is, nothing more, nothing less. Chevrolet did not document these cars that well & NOT even one judge in any shows have asked for docs. In fact, She draws a huge crowd with all OUTSTANDING COMPLIMENTS resulting in FIRST PLACE & BEST IN SHOW tropheys among other very nice camaros. Not interested in arguments, I need to sell due to financial hardships and only want a fair price for such a RARE car. Who ever ends up owning her WILL NOT be disappointed, They will be extremely pleased, totally satisfied, & very happy. I have described this car honestly & accurately. Thank you for your interest"

ok, the car is a clone, he knew it when he bought it (and admits it), the parts the car has ARE real, just not real to THIS car ...

correct parts, just not ORIGINAL to that particular car

as he states, bid only for what it is, not for what it isn't ... or is presented to be ...

no, he said this rear end is from one of those .... or it was an over the counter axle ... but it is a REAL rear end, just that the car that it is in did not have it when it was born ...
