I would like to order a new cable for my '68 Z28 / M21. Can anyone tell me if the ones at Rick's or other comparable vendors come specific for my particular car and tranny, length-wise, or require a specific end fitting on the transmission end of things.
Many variations are listed by length and at least one looks to have a right angled fitting where it goes on the transmission but they don't really specify from what I've seen the actual intended drivetrain usage.
My old one seemed to be too short and had a straight fitting to the casing and ended up bent on such a sharp angle at the attachment that it finally gave up the ghost. I suspect it wasn't original or the correct type so to pull it off and measure it only to get another basically the same is pointless thus this call for help - any advice is greatly appreciated - Thanks -Randy

If your car is an original 4-speed car...you will need to purchase the two piece cable from Rick's. If it is not original and you are not concerned about originality you can add the lengths of the two cables together and just buy the one piece one which is a little longer.
The straight fitting on the transmission end is correct. However, there were gear reduction boxes put on in the aftermarket if you were changing tires often (i.e. drag strip, street drags) and some of them would appear to be at right angles to the transmission as well.
