Gentlemen,

I am over from Team Chevelle, six year member, just beginning to indulge my interest in Camaros. If you don't mind, I have a very basic question ( did a search without success ). Could somebody please tell me what the codes mean, or where I can find out. I mean the "X" ones, like X 11, or X 33 or X 77. I know some are trim level like a bit of chrome or stainless on the side, but I would like to know all of them for reference. No great detail is required, just the basics. I appreciate any interest or assistance. ( I do not yet own a Camaro, but I very much want a '69 convertible. ) Cheers, R.B.

The X codes were used on the Fisher Body side, not on the Chevy side. They were intended to help the workers how to trim out the car, but we use them today to help determine performance options. eg X22 was b/b, so it got black out tail panel, and of course all the style trim stuff. X66 was b/b so it also got the black out tail panel, but since it only got the quarter louvers, and not the rest of the style trim stuff, it had its own X code.

We look for X22 and X66 to help verify b/b...the trim is secondary.

Same is true for most of the other X codes. X11 being the least helpful as it could be anything from I6 with style trim, to RS/SS350, or anything in between.
