My side mirrors are pretty loose, If I hit a bump or go too fast they move around. Which manafacture makes the best reproduction set? I do not want to spend money on cheap overseas parts.

That is a very good question. I'm interested in seeing the responses to this. From what I've seen in pictures, the OER mirrors don't look like they're exact copies of the original '69 mirrors. As a result, I was just going to get mine rechromed/restored.

I guess we'll see what people say about this.

Wellll... Mine had a round mirror (67 mirror on a 68) and it was pitted very bad. Now with all these new "goodies" going on with the new paint job.... I need a new one too.

Keeping eyes and ears open on this thread. :D

i have both my original interior rear view and side view mirrors and they both need to be re-chromed and the mirror on the interior one needs to be re-mirrored. since they are both dated to the car i am hoping i can find someplace to redo them. i bought a new Gm side mirror years ago and that one has the looseness problem the original poster has with his.

I bought these mirrors:

I read about them here in this thread: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=121779

I already had a set of repro mirrors I purchased at a swap meet a number of years ago. but the convex passenger side mirror (similar to a modern car) really appealed to me. They were quite a bit more expensive than the standard $29 repro mirrors you see on ebay but I was under the impression they were of considerably higher quality. The funny thing is when I got them it turned out they were made by the same company that made the ones I already had, "Pro industries" or something like that.. same casting number, etc. The only difference is the convex passenger mirror. Both sets appear to be quite nice, fairly tight, etc. I'm not sure if these "Pro Industries" mirrors are the same as the OER ones or if they are a bit nicer. If anyone has an OER one we can compare them, casting numbers, markings, etc. Since I haven't driven the car I can't comment on how they hold up going over bumps, etc.

i dont know which are best, but i will say OER sucks. they stay put, but 6 months and they are pitting :(
i will replace them when i paint the car, but they work for now.

Ricks first gen has two kinds for a 69,one is a

"Quality imported reproduction RH (passengers) side door mirror includes a mirror mount kit. " for $29.99 each and the second one is a

"Superior quality US made reproduction outer door mirror includes a mirror mounting kit and is backed by a full two year warranty. " for $53.99

Ricks is the only one I have found that gives details about where they are made with a warranty.
I am leaning towards Ricks, Trevor

I wanted to ask this very question! My mirrors both move out of position just from closing the doors. Would love to have a quality alternative.

There seems to be two prices in the books I read, $30 for overseas ones and $50+ for American made, I am leaning towards the $50 ones. Anyone try either? Trevor
