: Cut bracket on repro fender (69 Camaro) so I can put my grille in?

I have run into a problem in trying to fit the standard grille on my 69 Camaro with reproduction fenders. The problem is that there is a bracket on each fender that is right to the side of the outer grille which prevents me from installing it in flush....are these brackets there for a 69 RS Camaro with hideaway lights? These are supposed to be standard fenders. If they are not then they sold me the wrong ones. I will try to post a pic soon.

Repros are all made as RS fenders. Just cut (or bend) them off if you are using a standard grill.

My grill is off on passenger side, could this be the culprit ?

Alan, you could not even get the grill on if they were in the way. The fit of repro anything is not good and a lot of work is needed to get the edges nice. Heck, even GM parts leave something to be desired there.

Thanks Kevin. Somehow I'd like to make it right. To me it stands out like a sore thumb.

The only way to do it is to build up the edges of the grill with JB weld, recontour to fit and repaint.

Yep there is no way I could get the standard grill to fit these repro fenders because of those small brackets and I wasnt sure if the repro fenders were a one fender for all applications type of thing.

Take a heat gun and carefully soften the grill until you can move the edge tighter. Common problem. I have had to adjust most I have installed on at least one side, usually the right.

If you are careful with the heat, it will not hurt it. You can burn the paint if you are not paying close attention. It is a fine line between burning the paint and softening it enough to move. If you do burn it, the orange should not show as bad as other colors might. I like to use a piece of sanded wood as a tool and apply pressure while applying heat.It will start to move once it is hot enough

Thanks Mike for the tip, it is very much appreciated. I thought it was just my car. I guess it is a common problem.
Thanks Again..........alan

Like I said in a previos post fit the grill because the corners are to square they need some messaging to get a propper fit.

I am trying to get my original grille to fit in with the reproduction fenders I purchased. It would be great if someone could post a pic of the fender headlight bucket area so that I can get an idea of which brackets to get rid of and what to trim. My grille is a standard grille.
