It would depend on your intended application method and what you're trying to level.

IMHO:
A.) For under sealer/primer use - I use Evercoat Metal-2-Metal. It is applied directly to clean, preped metal areas to achieve panel leveling and fill small defects after dolly/repair work. It is an easily worked product that contains Alum. Powder and reinforcing fibers to brindge small defect holes and gaps.
I like the way it sands and it looks very close to a 'leaded' joint after you're done.
B.) For over primer use - I use Evercoat "Rage Gold & Extreme" and "Quantum"* products. These products all work very well and give excellent results. They sand easily. I have never had a post paint failure of one of these products lead to having to redo any finish work.
* = I have only started to use this product recently and am still learning it's good points, so far it is marginally 'better' and easier to work with than the 'Rage' line I used for years.

Hope this helps and the real "Pro's" chime-in to give you more info.

Evercoat is the best I have worked with. Rage, Gold, and extreme. Pick what is best for your application.

Another vote for Rage Gold. I used Metal to Metal on the quarter to roof seam for the first fill.

You probably don't need to mail-order the Evercoat products. I've seen them in auto parts joints like Carquest, and mom-and-pop auto parts stores.
