I just purchased a 69 with an M-20 and a 12 bolt posi. What type and what quantities do I need to change the fluids. I want to do this before I do any long drives. Also, is there a hand pump or other device to make the job easier. Thanks

I'm not up on the tranny, but the rear takes a little over 2 qts. by the service manual. Fill it up till it's just below the overflow hole on the front top pass. side of the pumpkin. I use the Royal Purple brand synthetic it has the posi additive already in it.

Thanks. I went to the local speed shop and they recommended the same for my tranny, Royal Purple 75W-90. They called Royal Purple and said the tranny will take about 3 qts, so I bought five. The price should've included labor!!

My M21 took just over a quart. One quart would have been sufficient.

Thanks. I'm about to go under the car to do the rear and tranny. Knowing I have 5 qts and should only need about 3 1/2 makes life a little easier.

Anyone have ideas on how to get the dang frozen plug out of the pumpkin so I can add the gear oil.

Is it a square head plug or a giant allen?
I remember them being square. You need an 8 point socket. Sears sells them. Nothing else will take em off, will just round the corners. Depending on how stuck it is, "rattling" it with an impact wrench works good, as does heating around it with a propane torch.
On the trans, be carefull filling it. Only fill till when you dip your pinky in, the tip gets oiled. If you fill it too high it will leak out the front.

Thanks for the ideas. It is a square plug that a 9/16 wrench fits on. It started to round on me so I soaked it with PB blaster and will try again tomorrow. I will go to Sears first for that socket. I'm afraid to try a torch because of the amount of oil and undercoating around the area. I'd hate to set the thing on fire in my garage.
