Just wanted to know if anyone has had any first hand experience with the XE274 comp cam.Im curious if it performs like its advertised and also its idle characteristics, fair, lopey, rough?

From one fellow Georgian to another....yes, I have put many of these in differing applications.

The idle is the best there is with a fairly nice rumpty-rump. I would not recommend this cam with less than 9.3 to one compression ratio. The performance is outstanding with great torque from 1200rpms and above.

Thanks alot HOTRODSRJ you made my day I just knew I had bought a stock sounding cam.I would rather have the performance than the sound but both is the best of two worlds. The engine is a target GM short block its 8.5 comp with 76cc heads I have dart iron eagle 200cc runners and 64cc combustion chambers for it the comp should be around 9.5 Im hoping.I have a dual plane edelbrock intake, road demon 625 carb, headers flow master 2.5 exaust.I had to put a hold on the parts buying for christmas I dont think my kids will want camaro parts from santa but after the new year its back on go!!!Ive also got a turbo 350 going in the car with a 2800 stall havent decided what gear to run probably 342 or so Im runing 275-60-15 tires.I think with that ratio Ill still be able to drive it out of town.Once again thanks very much for the reply, hope yall have a mery CHRISTMAS.And maybe well get some snow this year(yea right)

I run this cam in my 355. At 750rpm idle it has a mild level of lope. I like it. Turn the idle down to about 600rpm and it chugs like a pro-streeter. :D I have somewhere between 9.5 and 10:1 compression.

Cam pulls well across the powerband and really comes on around 2500rpm, and would probably work even better if I had a looser converter... and a better tuned carb.

On the vacuum... it pulls enough for power brakes, but the pedal can get a little mushy if you're riding the brakes.
