Does anyone have an engine built by these guys? They seem to have a really good product to offer for the money. Good or bad, give me your 2 cents. I'm looking for a turn key 350 or 383 to slip into my '67 rs as a winter project.

Forum Members,
Please conduct any negative criticism through E-Mails directed to the person posting the question, not here.
There is a forum rule against vendor bashing that we must all respect in exchange for using this forum.
no bail4u, please post your E-Mail address if it is not in your profile.
Travis, I don't think your comment was vendor bashing. I'm just trying to fend off some future posts that would be better said as personal E-Mails.
Positive recomendations are OK here of course.
Thanks, David (TC Moderator)

I remember reading some magizine with a 67 camaro with a speedomotive 406. That doesn't help much though.

A friend of mine bought a 412ci(sml blk) and upgraded the cam and lifters to a solid roller and did some other minor upgrading.
He put the motor into a 3200lb car and went 11.90's on his fist pass w/a holley 3310 vac. sec. and a dual plane intake.
He later put a 800 dbl pump,Victor Jr. and a set of 1-3/4 headers. After a bit of tuning he went 11.50's and sprayed into the 10's.
He beats on this car every chance he gets and the only problem he's had was a blown head gasket from overheating.
He contacted there customer service, they were willing to fix it, if he paid shipping and handling.
I think if I were looking for a "crate motor" I would consider these guys...just my 2 cents http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

My buddie just put a speed-o-motive stroker in his 69 Camaro. I don't have the details but he went with their recommendations and spent over $5000. The car is scary, We took it to a closed stadium and did several 1/4 mile runs. The power is all there at the start and pulls through the 1/4. I would highly recommend it. I have a ZZ3 that I rebuilt in my 68 and I thought mine was fast. I will probably go that route when my motor gets tired.

I love this site. Thanks to all that replied.I apologize if I opened up doors to bash this company. I have gotten more good than negative responses. They have been in business since the 50's and from what I see use very choice components and FREE delivery. When it comes time to peel out the green, I will give them a close look. Dan

Nothing against Speed-o-motive but you might look a little closer to home. Sure free shipping up front is cool but what about warranty? Shipping a motor back if thats the case will cost in the long run. I did the mail order short block once with another company but NEVER AGAIN. I found a local guy who was reasonable and my motor has quality parts in it and was a better deal than mail order. Plus if I had warranty issues its a 30 min drive to his shop. Good Luck with your choice.
