View Full Version : 68 Z/28 all original
ew68bb Nov 7th, 08, 02:38 PM I am going over to look at an original 1968 Z/28 that has been owned by the same person for the last 20 years. I actually saw it a couple of years ago and made the infamous comment "if you ever consider selling it, give me a call first". Well, he just called me! The person selling it is very prominant in racing and has done work on my 68 in the past. It has the original engine, tranny, and rear end. I think it was repainted once (original colors, red with white stripes). It is a 4 speed. Overall condition is near perfect (as I recall). Assuming everything is "as described, (and given current market conditions) what's your best guess as to a fair price? Not sure what documentation he has, but I told him to check.
I will probally go over on Saturday. I will take some pictures as well. Would like to at least have a price range in my head when I go over.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Eric
satz28 Nov 7th, 08, 02:42 PM Is there lock tight documenation that it is a Z-28? You know that the 68 Z's are the hardest to confrim, right?
ew68bb Nov 7th, 08, 03:02 PM Rob,
Thanks for the input, I am well aware of that. I am hoping he has some documentation.
We shall see!
skipdaddie Nov 7th, 08, 04:33 PM As discribed I think the current market value is around $40K.
thorpe67RS Nov 7th, 08, 04:57 PM Near perfect condition and all original as you describe... 50k+
I sold my Diamond Certified, restored, all numbers, Gold Spinner winner 68 a year and a half ago for 61.
Dayton68Z28 Nov 7th, 08, 05:47 PM (original colors, red with white stripes). Eric
Yuck! Matador Red w/White Stripes. You couldn't give me that car.....
Oh wait, that is what I have.:D
Given the current state of the economy, and, a softening in collector cars, I would offer $45k if and only if it has it's original MO block.
ew68bb Nov 7th, 08, 06:48 PM Well, he is asking $40k and I thought I would offer $35k. Of course this is after I take some pictures and check on any possible documentation.
I will try and post this weekend.
Thanks everyone!
Eric
JimM Nov 7th, 08, 06:48 PM hmmm, maybe someone should bring it to B-J?
After all, a rebodied 69, a Z in paperwork only, with a restamped drivetrain, brought 125K in Vagas this summer.
