Out of a total of six runs only three was worth talking about. 13.62 @104.24 13.45@ 104.94 and my last at 13.02@105.26 All was run on255-60-r15 so I had no traction I rolled out of first real slow and floored in second still spinning and shifting at about 5800 did not bring the motor up to 6400 were I was told to shift. My reaction times were in the1.01rang but I didn't care so her it is also could someone Give me a guess were my time could be with good traction Thanks jethro81z-28

1.94-----60
5.41-----330
8.35-----1/8
83.77----1/8
10.89----1000
13.02----1/4
105.26---1/4

Wow, you got six runs in!!! I'm lucky if I get three. I think you could easily shave 2 tenths off your 60ft. And with 105mph trap speed and shifting when you did, I'd say mid 12's...easy.

Also, I wouldn't shift at 6400rpm either...at least not with a 6200rpm chip in the rev limiter. Just kidding. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I bought the pack 6000 to 7000 but mid 12s sounds good to me.

Mike,
I had a great time hanging with you guys last night. That 13 flat is a very good time for your first time out w/ your new motor. I think you're motor is "on the money". You'll be in the 12's just by dropping your tire pressure and getting familiar w/ shift points and launching. You could also spray some VHT on your tires to help w/ the launch. Trap speed, not ET, is the best indicator of HP and your trap speed was very good. I looked at the BFG radial TA's on my '67 and I think they'bolt up on the '79. They're 265 50 R15. The wheels have a 7 in offset, which may be a problem. Maybe at least I can hook up enough so I'll need my helmet graemlins/clonk.gif

Thanks guys In about three to four weeks I`ll be back with a set of D.O.T.looking for traction and mid-12s. I`ll be glad just to say I have a 12 sec. car but any way total timing is set at 36* and all in by 2800. Holley 800DP Front jets our 72 and back 76, car seemed to run stong whin I got traction so I hope some good rubber will help.
So Mike be ready and lets go play.

With good traction 12.6 - 12.7's are doable with 105 MPH. You'll need to get your 60' times down into the 1.7x range though . . . isn't lack of traction a fun problem to have :D

jethro i run nearly the same engine combo except for cam its in a 67 nova and runs 7.os to 7.teens depending on weather in the 1/8 mile and is a little lighter i know but here is a starting point for you to try .you know though that every combo is a little different 74 /81 jets shift at at 6gran to 6200 reving them higher dont make them run faster always .i shift at 6400 with mine now with the roller . when i ran a solid i shifted at 6 to 6200 no sense pushing the motor if the results arent any better . now get that thing to hook and you might be suprised at what you run
