How are the clips that hold the trim on around the bottom of the rear window replaced?

I had a couple that were "toast"

I just drilled mine and installed screws for the clips.

Special screws to replace missing studs are available from resto houses or your local auto body supply store.

I found them to be too long when screwed all the way in, so I used little stainless screws. Remember to use dum-dum or something to seal the threads, regardless of the style you use. You don't want water to leak into the car.

Not familiar with dum-dum. I took off the chrome trim along the bottom and cleaned out the groove really well and removed all old caulk. I heard i could use that black, tar-like caulk used on roofs to seal the bottom of the window (fill in the groove- what's the best thing to use, and any tips on caulking the groove?
THanks

I think for the best result I would get a glass guy to remove glass and put clips on if the pins are gone.If the pins are still there the clips slide in as for dum dum or caulk there is no need for this if the seal on the glass is good. This area holds water when I wash my car I use a blow gun to get it out....
