Okay, I just need a little advice as to what you guys think a car like this is worth. I don't have pics so just close guesses based on description would be great. Sorry Camera batter died at worst moment!

1969 Camaro SS X66 396 375hp:thumbsup:
52 52 Garnet Red
4 Speed

Car possibly retains original engine but block has been decked. Still retains some partial numbers but very hard to make out without removing alternator. Block is date code correct and is a 396. Car is not being sold as matching #'s.

Muncie 4 speed looks to be original.

12 Bolt rear is date correct for car.

All "SS" equipment is present on the car
Brake valve
5 Leaf springs
8K tachometer

Car retains all original interior except carpet and dash pad and is in excellent condition.

15 Year old paint that still looks very presentable done in correct Garnet Red. I would say it is upper driver quality just needs a good wet sand and buff. Car had both quarters replaced during last resto which was done very nicely and looks to be a professional job. Car is very straight and correct. Trunk and floors are original with no patches and are very solid. Shock towers and rear subframe in excellent condition.

Remove the alt and use some chalk, take a pic with a digital camera, with the flash on.

If it's the original block, it makes all the difference.

Without pics, I'll guess at 28K - 34K if the numbers do not match. Add 10K if they do match.

The seller has the car in the mid 20's. The car does not have any docs and as I said is not being sold as #'s matching. If I buy the car and get it home and take off the alternator and it does turn out to be a matching car then what a bonus! The car is nice enough though that I would be happy with it matching or not. It is an X66 car and has all of the signs of being a true big block SS. The original big block heater core, 8K tach, 12 bolt, 5 leaf springs, brake valve, etc. With what I have descirbed is mid 20's too much for an upper driver quality non matching X66 or is it within reason? With a little detail work this car would be sweet!

I think 25K is a very reasonable deal. Of course pics would be great but just put it this way...... Can you build a super clean 69 BB car for 25k ???

I doubt it........

Theres a very similar car on Ebay as we speak .....It go's off tonight.

The L78 continued to use the 6K/7k tach after the Z/28 was switched to 6K/8K. (I have asked in the past, but no one can explain why) Not to say that 6K/8K tach could not have been a factory error or substitution, but I'd be suspect.

In the X-code time frame, the VIN was moved to the oil filter area. If there are remenants of a VIN stamp on the engine pad, I'd be suspect. Check the casting date on the block...is it within the expected period? Single fuel line? Remenants of vapor return line, like clips or sending unit? By chance, is it an M22 (trans code ends in C)

$25K for a nice b/b sounds fair, but I would not assume it's a real L78, unless you can find some sort of proof.
