Ad claims the car has "factory 4 wheel discs" but the rear is coded "BU". BIN price is $47.5K!?!?!

I'm gonna build one just like this one! Then I'll advertise it on Ebay as a numbers matching car with factory four wheel disc and not put a picture of anything to document those facts. Hey but at least it's got a scattersheild to keep the clutch contained while you're doing those wheelies that smash the sub on the way down.

I caught you, in order for me to allow that, I am demanding 15% of the final ending price! lol

OC9 build date? I suppose he means 09C but that eliminates the JL8 as being original to the car.

If it really is a 69 factory setup or just Wilwoods.

Who knows, there are no pictures of them that I can say....that car is wrong in so many ways and the spelling F-ups in the ad are atrocious.

Shall we start a list?:
1) "P9H30A" would indicate an M-20 - they claim matching numbers M-21
2) wrong MC
3) spray paint rebuild on booster
4) Black water outlet housing
5) No cowl induction parts to go with ducted hood
6) HEI w/ brown (yuk) cap
7) After market radiator cap
8) Lakewood style bell housing
9) Drain/fill plug in rear end cover
10) SFC's
11) Allen head cap bolts on intake
12) T- handle shifter
13) After market "stereo"

and much more I'm sure....none of which is fatal to a "nice" car but not one billed as show wining original, frame off resto.

14) Valve next to the MC that shouldn't be there on a JL8 car
15) Throttle return spring
16) Cork valve cover gasket
17) Holes drilled in trunk drains
18) Wrong/no bumper guards

Wrong valve cover bolts, wire holders, alternator bracket, and notice the bottom of the Trim Tag....it's blank!

Also, missing the door bumpers and I believe that's a reproduction rosewood.

What's up with that trim tag ? Never seen one (even a bad fake) with nothing printed on the bottom.

That looks like the worst repro tag in history! Especially for a "factory original, numbers matching, rotissorie restored, show winning" Z/28. I hope someone that knows more than me (not hard) can shed some light on this for us.

Trim tag looks real.

Yes, it's strange with no conformity statement and transposed characters in the date code, but it's also a 1969 model being built when all other models are 1970 so strange things can happen.

It matches some other 69 export tags including the U shaped cutout on the right side just below the rivet, so it may have been an export car.

Not a factory rear disc, but the BU rear could be original with over the counter disc brakes.

If the rest of the information is correct, I don't think the buy it now is that far off the mark.

He needs to take it to Barrett Jackson. No one there will question it's authenticity

You think the BIN is close?

With all of the other noted problems and no pics of the engine stamping, how do you figure?

If, and this is a big if, all the casting numbers and stampings check out, then I think it's worth mid 40's.

With $5-10K spent in correcting some items, a slick written marketing campaign, and a Jerry report, what do you think a numbers matching certified Daytona Yellow Z/28 would sell for at Barrett Jackson?

You gettin a cut o' the profits?

LOL. You're right, it is a bit of a stretch. Trim tag anomalies occur for unexplained reasons.

No cut of the profits here.
I just think a matching numbers Z/28 with original trim tag is worth mid 40's in this condition.
Of course I would never bid that high based soley on whats shown in the ebay auction, but if the numbers checked out I would.

I don't believe it's an original JL8 rear end, but apparently, I am the only one who thinks the trim tag is original!

jl8dale
Nov 14th, 08, 04:04 PM
I don't know enough to tell if the trim tag is real or not but I would sure like to see what Kurt S. or John Z. thinks about it.
No way the JL8 is factory original just by the date of the car alone. Also, where are the pics of the rear axle and all of the stampings?

I would love to hear Kurt S opinion on that tag if he's out there.

There are no transposed characters on the tag, just in the sellers description of the tag.
