i saw that awesome yellow camaro of CAMCOJB, and im wondering, is it possible to put a turbo or supercharger like that on a carburated v8?
If so, what adjustments i have to make to an engine (jetting, camshaft, compression, etc)
thanx

Yes, it is possible. One of Camco's cars used to have a Procharger blowing thru a carb and my '69 has a Procharger blowing thru the carb.
As far as the mods required, not many for the supercharger. You need an engine that can handle the additional stress and a modified carb and mechanical fuel pump. That's really it. The more boost you want, the more important the fuel system is. After about 500-600 HP, you will need to go to an electric pump. If you are really interested, I would call Scott at SD Concept Engineering (401-732-4047). He has been helping me with my tune and I know he helped Camco as well.
It is also possible to run a turbo with a carb, but the plumbing is a pain in the butt. You need specially fabricated headers to mount the turbos up in front of the engine. Turbo guys make unbelieveable amounts of power, like 600-700 HP with a 302 or 350. Your engine should be built accordingly.

Turbos are pretty cool little things. I'm looking at getting a new daily driver (Camaro is now fair-weather only) and took a test drive in a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo the other weekend. 300 horses from 180 cubic inches isn't bad. Not to mention that I've been reading up on some guys making an easy 500 horses with more boost on that little 3 litre V6!
No, I promise I'm not going to the dark side. :D

Thanks Robert! Yes, it's very possible to do a centrifugal with a carb as gheatly said, or turbo for that matter. I'm doing a twin turbo LT1 for my other 69 right now.
I've had four centrifugal blower setups with carbs that ran great. I strongly suggest getting ahold of Scott as gheatly said also as the carb prep is critical on a blow-through application and Scott really knows what he's doing. On a turbo I lean towards EFI although a carb can certainly be done. For ease of set-up and installation the centrifugal is a good way to go.

There was a guy at the track last Wednesday running 7's with a turbo big block in a MonteCarlo. On his 3rd or 4th run he grenaded the transmission at the starting line and the car caught on fire. His feet were seriously cut up from transmission pieces and his feet and face were badly burned from fuel that shot out of the cut lines and ignited in the car.
My point is this - if you plan to go really fast (which you certainly can do with a turbo setup) get the safety stuff done first.
ps. and wasn't John Lingenfelter recently VERY seriously hurt in a turbo car?

IF im gonna put a turbo on my tired 350ci, i wont get that serious, i will get a turbo from a scrapyard so i can play around with it.
if i can find one, i rather have a blowertype but those things are impossible to find on a scrapyard so i will look for a charger or turbo.
