Simpliest/cheapest way would be to install a kill switch.

There's plenty of info both in the archives (search) engine on the TC site, and on the net dealing with this topic.

Choose a well know brand for an anti-theft device, visit several electronic shops who specialize in them, and have it professionally put in if you are not into the electrics.

Just remember it's a deterrent and not fool proof.

There are 2 that I would recommend
Steal Sheild and mongoose
I believe the Steal Sheild is std on toyota???? maybe just in NZ???
most parts are interchangeable
Both are Insurance company approved (IMPORTANT)
Both have very similar features, including 30 sec engine, electric pump kill
I have had a mongoose in the camro for several yrs, not having centeral logging was a curse because I was forever 'loosing where the alarm was set to

2 days ago i put the central locking in....and replaced the siren with a battery backup loader Steal sheild..the central locking is also Steal sheils, but did not need the power relays as the Mongoose has these built in the unit.

All the damade to the camaro is
1 mounting hole way up uner the fender on the inner fender
2 small holes in each door on the inside steel panel
4 holes.. 2 each side, drilling out the dimpled mark between the hindges where the factory wires go for electric windows

I describe how to do these without taking the doors off in a related thread about a week ago
run a search for cenral locking

The main unit is mounted with ties behind the dash grab handle, above the glove box.
The siren is mounted way under the fender on the inner gaurd, behind the windscreen washer bottle.

The cenral locking motors are mounted near vertical, inside the door , connected to the bottom of the knob wire. If one takes a straight line off the bottom bend of the knob wire, down to the bottom of the door, there is a indented flat panel part...the motors are mounted to this flat part and clear the bottom mounting bolts of the rear window glass channel.
The motion sensor is mounted on , under the steering column...theives tend to kick wheels when casing a car park...and not so suspetable to going off when a noisy car drives past.
The glass crash, interor motion sensor, is in that little gap between the A pillar padding and the top dash pad.

Now I can simply walk away from the car, not lock it but know the car cant be started because of a 2 or 3 stage kill which activates in 30 secs
Or simply hit the central locking
And know if the alam has been set off when get back, and know which sensor was activated

Oh forgot it is also connected to the interior lights and there is a sensor if the hood is lifted..dont have on on the trunk...
If any wires are cut, battery, or to from the siren...it goes off.

I mounted most the sensors etc, ran most ofthe hidden wiring , my son in law..a autosparky did the connections. Cost was all trade price just under $NZ 200...about $US130
Thats not much cost considering it is insured at value for $NZ65000

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be easier to use the existing door jamb/interior light switch's loom instead of drilling any holes at all?
Those switches are already there, and they will tell you if a door is opened..
Save you drilling any holes, and I hate drilling holes in cars!

This is to mount the siren

2 small holes in each door on the inside steel panel

This is to mount the central locking motors

4 holes.. 2 each side, drilling out the dimpled mark between the hindges where the factory wires go for electric windows

This is for the wires to go thru to the indise of the door for the central locking motors..these ARE marked for factory holes.

I think the other thing to consider here is a GPS tracking device as an adjunct to an alarm system. If the car is taken, at least you can see where it is. And I would get one that is constantly pinging, not one that has to be enabled by the police department.
