Trying to find the approximate location for the Camaro emblems on the back of the front fenders.

The AIM does not show the distance from the fender edge or the distance down from the horizontal seam.

Does anybody have an easy way to locate the spot to drill the holes for these emblems? Appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks.

Fron the rear edge to the back of the 'C' in line with the botton of the small letters is 85mm +/- 1 mm
From the bottom of the fender to to the bottom of the 'o' is 375mm +/- 1 mm

When I relocated the badge on the other side..I leveled the car so the 'fin' above the badge was level...then sat the old badge with the pins broken off near flush, on a level, and pressed onto the paint.
If u dont have an old badge, I would use a capenters chalk line, and snap it to get the levels..then with a set of calipers measure where the pins are
Drill 1 hole and check the mark for the second before dilling
IF u get it a little out of level...Like I did with the nose emblem, it will not be far off, maybe 1/2 mm slot 1 hole slightly up and the other slightly down.
Seal the exposed metal with a small dab of paint.

And "measure twice.(3 times) THEN cut (drill) "

I have never bolted these or the nose badges to the fender in 25 yrs
Used rtv silcone pushed into the holes, a few small spots in the back...put in place, then leaned the workshop broom against it over night

Steptoe,
Appreciate your reply and great suggestions. Sounds like you have put quite a few of these on in the past.

I want to make sure I understand what you mean by leveling the car so the "fin" above the badge is level.
Would it be correct to have the bottom of all of the letters in the badge parallel to the above body line/raised seam edge in the fender? The one that is about 9" down from the top of the fender.

Would you happen to know the dimension down from that body line edge to the bottom of the letters in the badge in inches? Sorry but I have limited measuring devices in my poor man's garage. Very much appreciate your help!

Thanks.

No but to the top is 54mm

yes it is meant to be parrell BUT...if at anytime the (a) fender has been repaired, it will not be as perfect as when it came out of the factory...even blocking the fin lines can put this line out a tiny bit...the top of the fender not quite perfect level (shims) and the trim along the sills slightly out...(have this on before putting badges on)

If u put jack up the car up (front or rear under the suspention) so the fin is level (use a bubble level) it is easier to get the badge level...but the overall appearance may still not 'look' right when u stand back, have buildings and stuff in the background...it will not be far off, maybe 1/2 mm slot 1 hole slightly up and the other slightly down.
So it is a compromise..and we are talking .25 to 1mm

Also, just for the record ... For $19.99 you can buy the templates for ALL the emblems on the entire car from most any of the parts houses. For 20 bucks, it's not a bad thing to have around and gives the exact locations.
