Hi everyone, new guy here. Been looking around at the various Camaro sites and this looks to be the best around :) I have a quick question, it's not about my Camaro but a Firebird I just picked up. I am trying to figure out what the cars worth for two reasons. 1. to see what I need to insure it for and 2. I might try to sell it down the road as it is completely original and it would be a shame to change anything on it...kinda boring.

It's kinda a barn find. A '67 Firebird OHC six banger. It only has 28k :hurray: on the odometer with a perfect interior and good exterior. One little dent on the roof and a small amount of cancer around the driver side quarter wheel well that was poorly repaired quite a while back. It has been sitting for over 25 years in a garage the second owner built for it when he bought it with 1,700 miles on it in '68. The car has everything, orgiinal spare, jack you name it. So, what do you guys think it's worth.
Thanks Can't wait to get into this forum more!

Welcome to TC. I am reading a book about the introduction of the GTO and Pontiac in general. I talks about the 6 cyl with the 4 bbl. carb. Pontiac could not get people to buy that engine. It sounds like a cool car, though. My guess would be $5-7000.

Is it a Sprint (with the 4 bbl), or just a regular base OHC 6 car? Transmission? Color and type of interior (standard or custom)? Options? Some pics (host them on Photobucket, then paste them here) will help too.

It would be good to know if it was a Sprint, but I am going to take a guess and say that you will find someone willing to spend closer to $10K for it based on the ultra low miles and "barn find" status. People seem willing to pay a bit more for this "heritage."

The "Sprint" cars are in demand, more so than the regular six bangers.

If it has the 4 bbl, run a PHS on the car ( http://www.phs-online.com/ ) and it will give you proof that it is or is not an original sprint.

PHS is a great tool that us chevy guys don't have :(

It is not a Sprint, that much I know. It is kinda a greenish blue color with black interior

I had a 68 firebird with the 4 barrel inline 6 cylinder back in the mid 80's.
I tried my best to blow that little sucker up ( my dad wouldnt let me drop a V8 in it till the 6 banger was toast) It refused all attemps to trash it, my friends could not believe the abuse it took and still lived on.
After a year or so I replaced it with a built small block 400 and got in to so much trouble I had to sell it.
No idea on value Im just rambling on....

I had a 68 Lemans Sprint in college....my folks bought it new for me. They thought it was practical, but it was one hot car!! Not as hot as a "real" muscle car, but pretty darned hot!

I wish I where old enough to have fond memories of REAL cars. I thought I was hot s%^t with my new '88 Z-24 five speed cav in high school. Made more than a few 305 Camaros in town mad though

My brother had a sprint OHC motor in a LeMans too - he figured out how to blow his up, though - let the oil get too low.

again, there were TWO different OHC engines ... one was "standard" of which the car in this thread has ...

the other was included in the "Sprint" package offered on Firebirds and LeMans'

the Sprint included a 4v carb, the standard OHC 6 did not

When I was in high school I used to work at a Pontiac dealer in the summer doing oil changes. The is one large motor. It takes 5 quarts of oil BTW. They would pull really good even in stock trim. From light to light they could hold their own.

The OHC Pontiac sixes in firebirds were about equivalent to the base V8 performance wise. I think they are a great collector car, as the gas mileage should be good also.. so make it a very nice driver. :)

I missed on a 68 Lemans Sprint convertible on ebay about 2 years ago. Unrestored, but garaged by original owner. BIN $1500....lasted about 2 hours!
