View Full Version : This is worth a laugh 69 Camaro for sale
Mr. Super Sport Nov 18th, 08, 07:36 PM Check out the link. Guy claims there were NO short cuts taken on this restoration. I guess he did not notice it has a small block heater core with a 396 engine. Correct SS rally wheels and stripes - the list goes on and on etc...
Worth a laugh. http://www.flemingsultimategarage.com/1969-chevrolet-camaro-ss396--c-848.htm
rafbody Nov 18th, 08, 08:45 PM What about that original interior without headreasts and the wrong master cylinder. Just a quick observation.
frankk Nov 18th, 08, 09:44 PM Just another pieced together 69 Camaro. NO big deal.
KevinW Nov 19th, 08, 05:13 AM Another builder that didn't do their homework  The Z stripes with SS emblems and a black grill surround just pushes my buttons! :)

So Doug, Are you saying it is "worth" just a laugh? :D I will go offer him a laugh for the car:thumbsup: Bet he turns me down
mccorry Nov 19th, 08, 06:50 AM I like how he doesn't post pictures of the trim tag or vin... nor does he list them in the ad.
77thor Nov 19th, 08, 11:02 AM No pic's of the underside?
Mr. Super Sport Nov 19th, 08, 11:41 AM I knew you all would agree - i just wanted to share with you all some of the ways the seller uses to describe the car. To me it looks like a driver car, but the way the seller sounds it's a national Camaro show winner. "No short cuts taken."
Steptoe Nov 19th, 08, 12:52 PM The woodgrain inserts around the radio nobs are missing to
It looks like a very nice well put together tidy Camaro with a lot of work put into it..not stricty correct....THEN the car salesman starts to do a slurge (Rem a car salesman is an uneducated , insurance salesman, and insurance salesman is and uneducated realestate salesman..) and thats all it is a sales BS pitch.
It is a nice Camaro, not perfect as claimed, few bolt on bits not correct, some missing, hasnt been butched , cut around....I mean who would realy be ashamed to be seen in it?
Or bottom line not own it....
I have no idea if US prices, or if the asking price is in the ball park of what it realy IS.
But it is still a nice Camaro...dont knock the car, dont knock the builder, we dont know his intention, knock the BS salesman.
Vegas69 Nov 19th, 08, 01:19 PM Looks alright to me....not factory correct but they aren't saying numbers matching either. 38k probably not that great of a price at this point.
BPOS Nov 19th, 08, 01:20 PM Tough crowd!
Mr. Super Sport Nov 19th, 08, 04:54 PM Look at the video and then the pictures. Stripes look silver in the video and white in the pictures. What do you think?
gotsnappy Nov 19th, 08, 05:38 PM Kevin W,
Please educate me. The SS did not come with racing stripes? I thought that was an option for z and ss.
gotsnappy
Barefoot Dave Nov 19th, 08, 05:57 PM Kevin W,

gotsnappy
I can help. You had to have a Z-28, Z-10 or Z-11 to get those stripes from the factory.
Steptoe Nov 19th, 08, 06:14 PM Like I said
"But it is still a nice Camaro...dont knock the car, dont knock the builder, we dont know his intention, knock the BS salesman. "
Corect strips what ever..
hey Same colour as mine...mine is a matching numbers green orginaly..I dont like the green so same colour as this one..OH and put my orginal badges away and thru some Z badges on it... the bow tie looks corny to ne
And the next body build will be in about 3 yrs...We are aready planning stipes...silver, and a cowel hood with rear spioler...
Why Cause Thats What We think will look good.
If at any stage we want to return to orginal, just dig the orginal stuff, from Alternator casing, dizzy, to manifolds and carbs, hoods etc out of storage...no big deal
mccorry Nov 19th, 08, 06:22 PM I don't think anyone is dissing the build. We're getting a good laugh at the sales pitch. ;)
gotsnappy Nov 19th, 08, 06:24 PM thanks barefoot for the info,
I have seen a ton of ss with stripes, so i just assumed it was an option.
Mr. Super Sport Nov 19th, 08, 07:04 PM Please anyone reading this. Yes the Camaro is very nice. I'm just laughing at the sales pitch. The salesman is saying this is a correct NO shortcuts taken restoration of a SS Camaro. I'm sorry if I offended anyone here on the site. I just feel bad for a novice Camaro buyer who gets it and believes every word of the salesman.
camaromaniac Nov 19th, 08, 07:41 PM I had a bad experience with Flemings, but thanks to the assistance of some tc members, I was able to avoid a big mistake! Thanks again Doug & Dave.

PowerWindows Nov 19th, 08, 07:46 PM States SS wheels but has Rallyes? BBC in a SBC car (heater box)????? (although I happen to prefer it) Headers and FlowMaster mufflers with non SS exhaust (looks like 67/68 style)?
Too much wrong for me for their price....

wow you guys are something, although you are right about the car, what is so great in your garages?? I am willing to bet alot of nothing is what most of you have. If you do have a car I would also bet that 75% of them are pieced together worst then the one mentioned above. If fact its almost a sure thing. everyone one of you is so smart its amazing!!!
i happen to own a used car lot, which I guess makes me an uneducated insurance salesmen and whatever else.
anyway thanks for the laugh guys.

I realize your comments wern't directly aimed at me, but feel free to take a look at my numbers matching 69 RS.
I simply wanted to point out that I had a bad experience with this dealer who clearly misrepresented a car I had been looking at (not the one currently in question) and I avoided a big mistake (buying that car from that dealer) thanks to the efforts of a couple of great tc members.

kgmunro Nov 19th, 08, 09:14 PM man...I'll make sure not to post my 69 by the looks of the way you guys run them down. Are you guys that great? WHY NOT let people enjoy this hobby!!

Well If you just happen to look at my sig...I walk the talk m8
It may not be orginal..it IS a matching numbers car, not just parts matched up with correct dates, the actual ex factory parts.. EVERYTHING from the stuffed orginal tie rod ends, brake hoses radio, starter moter...u name is ALL storeway safe and sound, along with the orginal protect o plate hand book, import/custom papers when imported in 1972 to NZ...I am 3rd owner from new,
anyway thanks for the laugh guys.
On which side of your face now m8.
AND I KNOW there is one hell of a lot of the guys here are exactly the same with sweet rides that even I envy.
mccorry Nov 19th, 08, 11:02 PM Wow... some of you get bent out of shape over nothing.... relax... it's all fun.

I agree  Kinda went south as I read it so time to have a :beers:
Say what anyone wants, but the call was correct, a sales pitch that is very far from, well "just not correct!"

Charlie, thanks -- it was my pleasure to help you out and I learned quite a few interesting details on first gens from Barefoot Dave
Barefoot Dave Nov 20th, 08, 06:02 AM Charlie, thanks -- it was my pleasure to help you out and I learned quite a few interesting details on first gens from Barefoot Dave
Charlie..I'm glad we could help and we were both happy to save you a lot of heartache.....and $$.
I've been there three times to check out cars for TC members and let's just say each car had some problems that were not disclosed to the potential buyers. Buyer beware and I'm happy I could share the knowledge I've learned over the years. BTW, I might add that they don't do their own restorations so they may just be passing along what the person that sold them the car is telling them but the Camaro's I've seen there were not first class restorations at all.
Mr. Super Sport Nov 20th, 08, 07:58 AM Okay so my 69 Camaro is a True Z-28 SS/RS PAce Car big block. Don't be envious and tell me it's not correct. I started this thread because of the what the salesman was saying. And that's it. Lets just end the thread now. Whew!
Steptoe Nov 20th, 08, 11:49 AM Wow... some of you get bent out of shape over nothing.... relax... it's all fun.

theChuckster Nov 21st, 08, 09:08 PM "Professionally Restored" yeah with filled seams, incorrect parts, and crooked trim---"No Shortcuts"-----"Interior is absolutely bone stock"----"Factory"-----"Original"...... Using that terminology is mis-representation and point blank A LIE! There is terminology such as clone tribute rebuild ect., that is appropriate for such cars. Also note what is marked at the top of the center slider for the heater controls compared to the engine bay. Car is a decent assembly of parts and should be advertised as such. One final note, Car looks like it was rear-ended by a semi and re-quartered by JoeBlos Body Shop, but I keep forgetting that "No Shortcuts" were taken on this "Professional Restoration". The narrator should be charged with misrepresentation or possibly even fraud for preying on the ignorance of a potential interested party that has money but not enough knowledge to protect themselves from such money hungry wolves. I want to thank the op for highliting this one for the good laugh and the fact that you may have saved someone new to the hobby from a not so good investment as Al Bundy would want you to believe.
theChuckster Nov 21st, 08, 09:20 PM Al Bundy is a lot more honest with the Z advertising and lets the cat out of the bag with some knowledge that he does know about details, dates, and cloning. Not much to pick on about the Z and I have to say I love it. It looks solid, not perfect but SOLID, from my trained eye.
classic gary Nov 21st, 08, 10:46 PM does the dash in the SS look funny around the radio ? sorta like it's BROKEN ?
of all the things............................
69 L 89 RAG Nov 21st, 08, 11:46 PM I'M BUYING IT, IT'S GOT RED HORNS! :disco:
al8apexer Nov 22nd, 08, 08:25 AM those red horns reflect the "details" of the restoration ... notice the tower clamps and GM hoses, you are not supposed to look at the red horns ...:)
oh yeah, he did say "functional" cowl induction, well, I guess so, it IS a giant open hole with no guts or wiring ...
al8apexer Nov 22nd, 08, 08:27 AM No Doubt these guys overstate what they sell. I enjoyed them so much, I made my own video of my 69 Z talking like these guys. Had to use the "fabulous show and go Camaro" line, it was just too much fun!!
