They are asking $26,750.

Missing the backup lights, no heater core, lots of unknown things. I dont now if I would even venture a price without examining the quality of paint and body work in person, not to mention checking the common areas of rust and how they were repaired.

Not worth asking price judging by the pics I see. Take at least $8K off.

Really? Assuming the bodywork, paint, and under carriage are all in great shape... I would say that price isn't bad.

I'm going to see the car in person this week. If I'm pleased with it, I'm thinking about
working out a trade for my Chevelle for it.

$26,750 for a tribute clone that isnt even done up right? I dont see a vacuum tanks, so do the hideaways work?
Whats would a real RS/SS in this condition and quality of resto bring?
You would be smart to inspect it in person. To me it doesnt look like a high quality cloning or resto.

Worst painted rally stripes I have ever seen! Painted wrong at 3 of the 4 ends at least.

Pic 1/2 - No front or rear mounted radio antenae. I hate "no expensed spared" resto's that forget to install the radio antenae. Now what?

Pic 3 - Looks like aftermarket center console.

Pic 4 - How lazy not to take off the bar code sticker on the upper rad hose. No horns

The rally stripe comment aside, (I painted mine that way in 1973 and they're staying that way) This car seems to be a painted shell and little else. The ducted hood isn't even functional. Caution.
Checkout my web site for a lot of original stuff. And NO, that doesn't include the stripes or mirrors or wheels (still have the original wheels. Hell, I still have the original tires,,,) And that was good advice about checking for rust. Spend time under the car. Lots of it. Of course the first place to look is the trunk. Good luck.
Edit; I keep noting missing stuff, like the cowl to hood seal. We could spend a lot of time picking this one apart. Double Caution. And who reinstalls rusty bolts for the hood latch, or a rusty master cylinder? See what I mean?

It looks like a nice restomod, but I would not call it a clone of anything. There are lots of things that are departures from "correct", but just because it's not accurate does not mean it's not a good ride. If you are looking for a restored original, this is not your best choice. However, if you are looking for a good car to cruise in, it might be. I'd look with a careful eye to rust and/or rust repair, more than finding inaccuracies. It's pretty clear there was no effort to "clone" anything, just effort to make it look cool....which it does, IMO.

I doubt you could build one like that for $26.5K, although that's not the meter stick for value.

Looks to be 4th gen camaro front seats and console.

Just my pet peve, I'm not a fan of Z stripes on an SS and the flat caps on the rallys don't look right on a 69. At least they painted the grill surround body color.

If you like it and it is in good shape it looks like a 23-25K car if the body is nice.

The ducted hood isn't even functional. Caution. ?

While i do see some things to be concerned about..or to look into more. This fact is hardly a caution or red flag for me. 99% of cowl induction hoods on Camaros today are just for show.

I agree that the car is a clone of nothing... BUT... If you just want a nice camaro to tool around in, let's see you build it for the asking price. I'm not saying that the car is worth the money without a close inspection but it looks to be worth near the asking price if the work is decent.

assuming the body is in good shape(nothing covered up) you would be hard pressed to build that car for that price. if the resto mod is the look you like it looks like a descent price. if you wanted to make a "real" clone it would run you another $4k+/- in parts alone. then at roughly 30k you could buy a clone already done. apart from the front seats and console it looks sharp. i say if want a nice driver and still want to tinker this would be a good car to buy. good luck

you better live somewhere where not having a heater or windshield defrosters is allowed or not needed. NO HEATER!

I've decided to let this one go. After browsing cars-on-line, EBay and here,. etc, I think I can do better for the price they are asking. My search continues...thats part of the fun, right? :)

Thanks for the replies averyone. I appreciate it.

Until next time,

Wise move, your selection will only grow in this economy. Your Chevelle is way nicer then this one anyway!

i think some of you guys are being pretty critical for it being just a camaro. i agree that this would not be in any form called a tribute rs/ss as there are plenty wrong with it but ir the body and paint was done correctly along with it running well, i think it would be priced in the area that was given. given rough estimates for

decent body 3000
paint and body 8000
motor 4000
tranny 600
rearend 800
tires rims 1000
interior componants 5000

these are just rough estimates that i puled from the top of my head and it came to $22,400. plus with the car bing complete, you can drive right away.

I was not critical of the car. My point was that you could not build the car for the asking price, but that the cost of building that car has little to to with its value. I could spend a $25 restoring an AM Gremlin, but I could probably only get $4k for it when done.

.

I like the color, but the engine is too small and the price may be touching the low end of BB Cars.

gary, i think we are both saying that it is a fair price for what you get if it was done correctly. my comments were not directed to your post.
