Ive had a RS/SS '69 Camaro original 396 /Turbo 400 car,that came without motor/trans...Ive put together a 454(aluminum heads) and trans...and sold the car due to $$ issues.
NOw,Im back at my feet, and urging for a Camaro...Im between trying to buy the '69 back or go for another find...its a RS/SS '68 with original 396 motor and Muncie trans...all working in the car....and tons of options like power windows ,adjustable column,tic-toc-tach,the fiber optic thing, posi 12 bolt, front discs...
Although I like the '69 body,Im all about stick shifting...
I will probably go for the '68....
What do you guys think?

Ps:69s are harder to find here in Brazil...

If you're into the original type stuff go with the 68. Lots of interesting stuff on that car.

'68 'cause that's what I got.

Yea, me too :D
It's a personal thing that makes everyone of us just a lot or little different. But with that said a 68 with the stainless molding around the windows with custom gut is one of the best looking camaro's ever built. If that car would have had the cowl hood from the factory I think it would have been king. The great news, whatever you decide you have a winner...... Or get one of each year
:beers:

What about... just cuttin' down the middle and joining the best of both worlds? Could also do it lengthways, and really confuse the world...like can you imagine a trooper coming up behind, and...? Would make for an interesting conversation! Angel would prob just say..."Cool!":)

IMHO, and limited to choice of just those 2 as described, Go for the 68 with it's greater potential investment in the long run due to matched #S, however accepting that fact as the primary focus of your investment somewhat sacrificing having fun driving the car as was meant for them in the first place. If you want popularity of investment with the side benefit of being able to drive your car like you stole it then go for the 69. In most cases 68s always lagged behind in resale value over comparably equipped 69s and 67s for individual reasons. Seriously, if possible, buy both, 68 for show and the 69 for go. I have never been a complete man without one to drive and one to show. Best of luck, you lucky dog. Let us know what you decide and post us a picture. Chuck.

Which one's faster? That would bring you to the right answer.

I have a '69 Z. I would go for the 4-speed and numbers matching. But you have to do what you want to do .
The best advise I ever got was listen to everyone but go ahead and do what you want. It's your money.

Oh hell, just get one.
As far as 'the best', I sure like my 69. But I have to keep my window down to acknowledge all the:thumbsup: I get. Bet lots of us have that problem.:D
Now for an unbiased opinion;
About 30 years ago someone wrote to Hotrod Magazine with the reason 68's were better than 69. His list involved mostly 'firsts'. You know, first year with such and such equipment, etc. Hotrod said "Great, but 69's bring more money at resale. And most people think a 69 looks better". (I might have gotten a word or two wrong after 30-some years)
Edit. One more thing. This doesn't speak for market value of course, but the last time my car went down in value was 1971 or so. Then people saw what they were getting to replace muscle cars. And then,,,,,,, well I had to avoid leaving my car in an unsecured place.
And THERE is the major problem with our hobby and hot rodding; value! High value just takes the fun out of it. I miss people saying 'Nice car! What'll it do?". Now all I hear is "Nice! What's it WORTH?" I say, "I don't care". I'll never sell it. It's mine and I do anything I want to it. I usually get a nod. But if they're real car people, they learn that I bought it new. Then the flood gates open. Good thing I can swim.

I get lots of attention also in my '69... but, if it were a restored '68 in the same condition it would probably draw just as much attention. Most people want to talk to me about a car they once owned or a car their dad owned. "wish I still had it" is what they almost always say. Little kids love these cars, they certainly don't care what year it is! My daughter makes fun of how much attention my car gets. But, she certainly doesn't mind me picking her up from school in it.

As the owner of a '67 and '68, I'd have to say go with the '68 it seems to have alot of great stuff on it. I like '69s, but everybody acts like it's the only Camaro ever made, getting over done. I've had a real '69 Z and yes it was alot of fun, just like the other two better.
