Maybe a dumb question: I would like to add .5 degrees neg camber and wonder if I can just get four of the appropriate shims (the front end has already been aligned) and slide them in or will I potentially mess everything up? Seems like I should be able to if I add the same thickness at all four points.
Thanks,
Steve

It should not change the caster but changing the camber will change the toe setting.

You can add (4) 1/8" shims and gain pretty close to that .5 your looking for. As mentioned, verify the toe.
We add 4 shims to Michael's Monte Carlo when we autocross and do not change the toe, then we pull the shims before we leave

I"m sure Frank and Michael verified on an alignment machine exactly what adding and removing those shims was doing. Once confirmed, a perfectly safe and predictable thing to do.

Thanks, I didn't think about the toe-in as I thought it would be a constant. Is there a general sense about how adding an equal number of shims on all four points will affect toe-in?

Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive caster camber guage if you want to get that close or just use a carpenters level to confirm aprox how much it moved. With a helper and a tpae measure confirm the toe in before and after. Pick a spot on the tire that is easy to find front and rear, doesn't matter if you use a different spot than your helper, you just look at the difference betweent the two measurements.

It depends on what side of the steering axis the steering arm is on, and its geometric location to the spindle lower pivot point.

first gen Camaro tie rod ends are below the lower balljoint, so adding neg camber pulls the top of the wheel in, the bottom goes out, this should add toe-out slightly. The lower ball joint is very close to the tie rod end, so the change isn't huge but I don't have an exact number.
