well i recently was given a lenco spot welding machine from a buddy who picked it up at a swap meet for $20....great bargain right? well maybe if it was worth the 20 in scrap because once he tried it out at my house (i have the 230v power source it needs) low and behold it didnt work. so upset with his wasted twensky he said screw it you can have it. ive tried some basic things such as cleaning up the contacts on the tips, cleaning the power and ground terminals but still no dice. does anyone have any experience with these machines that could lend some advice? it seems like it should be working, the cooling fans kick on and the machine cycles when the button is pressed, just no arc. thanks in advance guys

From what I've gathered, the "less-expensive" spot welders don't work very well. I don't recall the #, but the ones that work are quite an investment.

I would open it up and check for loose or burnt connections. I used those 15 years or so till mig welders came in. You probally have $50 worth of scrap copper at the least if not repairable. Never had one not work.
