Seams on the panel between the trunk lid and convertible top. Were they originally filled (not visible) or were they filled with seam sealer and visible the same way they were done on a coupe? It is a 69 if that makes a difference.

No visible seams on the ragtops, just the coupes...

I've seen several restored cars where the seams were filled, but they cracked. Not sure what the correct procedure would be to prevent the cracking, but I'd research it before I just filled it with bondo.

Seam was originaly leaded. A good weld underneath and bondo is the only way to go. I don't think the verts have the same twisting issues there as coupes. There is some large re-enforcments under that area. :) Of course if you dont have good welds, then it could crack.

On the coupe, the seam was just welded together.....no filler. You should see the original radius of the two parts after they are assembled.

I'm think they were both done the same with seam sealer. The panels were spot welded in the trunk. If they were filled the seam would have to be welded on the outside for this not to crack with lead or plastic. How was it when you took it apart and which do you prefer. Is it a numbers matching car for it to be done correctly these are the questions you need to ask your self....

True story!. I originally did mine with spot welds and bondo - the bondo cracked. Next time they got mig welded and filled w/bondo - no cracks.
As I recal tearing mine apart way back when, the seam was brass brazed and then filled in with lead. Not sure if original, though.
