Hatman Nov 24th, 08, 07:13 AM Heres mine http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z235/Madhatter68/Shop.jpg okiemark Nov 24th, 08, 07:49 AM this makes me ill... in college, I went to a church yard sale and bought an old vintage coke machine for $10 bucks. (I had to borror the $10)... the guy said it would stay cold but wouldn't take any coins because it was broken. We loaded it in the truck (trying to find a pick-up truck at my college was like trying to find a strand of pukka shells in a Maui gift shop. it was like College of the Rednecks...) and took it back to the fraternity house. Sure enough, it stayed ice cold. I grabbed a flathead and started taking it apart to see if I could get it to start taking coins again. Low-and-behold, I opened a compartment and fifteen dollars worth of coins were stuck in there. that's why it wouldn't work! So, I made money on the deal. I never got it to take coins, but it was a great garage fridge! Wish I still had that thing! (and wish I had pics) Zulu28 Nov 24th, 08, 08:51 AM I'd show you mine, but I don't have one! Well, in the garage that is.... Everett#2390 Nov 24th, 08, 11:27 AM Good point mentioned by DougP, keep the frig full of anything. Air is the worse item for a frig/freezer to cool/freeze. If you have a space, fill it with something. SixtyAte Nov 24th, 08, 03:51 PM This is a post of mine a few months ago about my garage fridge. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just got this and couldn't resist painting it black to match my tool boxes and of course, had to add the Craftsman logo The edges and sides were red but the front was already black. What do you all think...neat ? BTW here is the link http://www.microfridge.com/garage.html Kev Hatman Nov 24th, 08, 04:01 PM Looks like a ad to me. dbanas Nov 24th, 08, 04:17 PM Based on the picture of that Green monster - the electric company must love you! If it is as old as it looks it must suck the juice. I monitored my electricity closely and when I changed from a 1978 22 cu. ft. side by side to a 2004 25 cu. ft. side by side my useage dropped about 4 kw a day. That is about 50 cents or $180/year. Jeff DougP Nov 25th, 08, 06:05 AM Hey Doug got any Reese's in there? Jeff Nope - takes up valuable beer storage space :D buzzworth Nov 25th, 08, 06:59 AM Neighbor retired from GE and was getting appliances to "evaluate". After 5 years, he usually returned them and got another. Since he retired, they said just keep this one. His wife did not want it because it was made to be built in and she didn't have room. He asked me if I wanted it for nothing..........DUH!!! It's GE's answer to a Subzero, with the compressor on the top. It was a B!TCH to move but the price was right. (it was empty when I got it) ss ccmblack Nov 25th, 08, 08:49 AM Here is mine...the fridge is in the garage...this is a photo of what comes through the garage wall on to the patio.8622 8623 gro51 Nov 25th, 08, 03:25 PM Bumper sticker I saw today: Finish your beer! Yah, I was thinking the same thing..get rid of those old energy burners...not to mention keeping a fridge in the garage is also putting an extra load on the compressor/motor due to ambient temperatures...much better off inside. @ $180 US/year savings that is about six (6) extra cases (24 bottles) of "real" Canadian beer...:beers: Tim1968 Nov 25th, 08, 06:51 PM my $0.02 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c189/timbevis/1124081443.jpg jr68 Nov 25th, 08, 06:56 PM http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh243/jerry1258/big-beer-fridge.jpg Hatman Nov 26th, 08, 07:03 AM Based on the picture of that Green monster - the electric company must love you! Yes it is as old as it looks, but in the three months that I have run it in the shop The energy bill has gone up $4.00 a month & I didn't have a fridge at all before. I didn't know this forum was about low cost energy If that is the case I'm sure most of us here don't have the most energy efficiant cars on the road.
