i want to hear your opinions on this combo.by no means did i make this combo up, i have researched this forum and like some of the combos others have run.do u guys think that this cam will provide enough vacum?is this motor streetable enough?now i want a good running reliable motor.its not going to see track time at all so i probably won't ever rev it past 5500 rpm.anyway its going to be backed by a t56 and a 12 bolt(not sure of the gears yet).here it is:
383 stroker(1 pc seal)
eagle rotating kit(flat top pistions)
afr 195cc(74cc comb. chambers)
comp cams 280h cam
"affordable fuel injection" efi system
full length headers
flowmaster exhaust
approx9.5-10.0-1 compression(guesta-met)
oh yeah i will be runnig power brakes and power steering.i ran it on dd2000 and it said about 14.68psi of vacum @ 2000rpm and about 14.49psi @ 5500 rpm. also said max torque is 446 @ 4000 rpm and max hp is 389 @ 5500 rpm.so what do u think?

I think it will be fine, although I cannot comment on the fuel injection setup. You can ignore the vacuum data on DD2k --- those numbers have nothing to do with your power brakes. I will say though that you should be just fine with your power brakes and the 280H cam in a 383. I've used that cam with power brakes in a 355 and it worked fine.
Also, your power figures are off a bit unless you are talking Rear Wheel numbers - in that case they are close, maybe a little high.
I would expect roughly 430-450 HP at 5800 RPM and about the same 430-450 TQ with a peak around 3000 - 3500 RPM.

thanks eric68.thats what i'm looking for "the mid range power".like i said it will be street driven only and i really want good performance off the line and good mid range.by the way does anyone know if the stock t56 flywheel(lt1 t56)can be balanced right with the eagle crank?

You will be happy with the combo, racy idle, enough vac.for the brakes. The 383 likes the 280 magnum cam.I don,t have much experience with the injection systems but from what I understand the stock type of units will require a cam with more lobe seperation because the system requires very good vac.tofunction properly. The aftermarket 'digital ' units will work better with HOT cams as they are easier programable by the end user. Get with someone who knows more about the F.I. before you buy your cam.

If you've got the 1-piece rear main block, why not go with factory hydraulic rollers? They'll easily rev to 6000+ and for mid-range torque on this type of engine, they'd be perfect. You can pick up sets of lifters new on ebay for less than $100. HTH.

instead of the 280h cam what do u guys think of the comp cams xe262h cam?would this be better for what i want?cam specs are:
duration:262 intake 270 exhaust
valve lift:intake .462 exhaust .469
lobe sep. 110 deg
let me know what u guys think. graemlins/hurray.gif
