I'm doing a auto to manual conversion and was wondering if the 4 speed shift hump panel that is reproduced fits over the existing tunnel, or if it is a replacement to be cut and welded into the original tunnel? My tunnel is in great shape so I am wondering if i need this peice

My car ('69) was an auto car that was converted to a 4 Speed manual -

I went back to auto on the car so I had to close up the shifter hole -

I hope these pictures help you out. As you can see, there was nothing welded to the hump for the manual converstion, but I did have to weld a plate to close the hole when I went back the original auto configuration.

What year ? On my 67 powerglide car the factory hole for the PG floor shifter is already in the right place for the Hurst 4spd shifter I installed when I went to a 4spd. I didn't have to cut or add anything.

Its a 75. thanks Rob for the pictures thats what I was thinking is that it was just cut into the original tunnel and then bolt a boot down. Theres a reporoduction peice called a 4 speed shift hump for the second gens, and i wasnt sure if that was needed for reinforcement of the tunnel.
