: ZL2 solenoid switch and retainer clip
z/27 camaro Nov 26th, 08, 02:02 PM can anyone tell me if this is the right retainer clip for the solenoid switch?? the clip is way too small for the diameter of the switch. is the clip supposed to expand to twice its normal size to be pushed on to the switch?
also this is a repo switch....are they reliable? its a tough spot to get into!

The clip goes into the throttle arm first and then you have to put the switch into the arm. It usually takes some effort. The clip pictured looks correct, but it is hard to tell. Where did you get the clip? Got a part number? I have some NOS GM ones somewhere and I could check the part number if you post it.
Unreal Nov 27th, 08, 01:12 AM They may have improved since I did mine, but I had to enlarge the hole in the arm slightly. The first repop switch I bought exploded in my hands when I tried to force it trough the clip.
Kermi Nov 27th, 08, 08:17 AM my repo ones were a pain, but they did go together and work.
I also thought the clip was too small. but it did work
z/27 camaro Nov 27th, 08, 08:30 AM i got the clip from ricks 1st gen, and i orderd another one from classic industry's because the 1st one didnt look right. there both the same. can you still get them from GM?

heres another pic with the clip just on the end of the switch. you can enlarge the pic.
when you put the clip and the switch together on the throttle arm, does the switch self align when you hit the gas pedal or do you have to manually try and set it up?? nasty spot to get at!

The original part number for the clip is 9788460 and it is discontinued. HOWEVER I have used 10075405 which is a clip for a cruise setup and it works fine, the only difference I could see was that the original is silver cad and the cruise one is black phosphate. I have had to file another slot in the repo arms before, the repos are wrong and the solenoid was up side down ( wiring from the bottom istead of the top ) They seem to self adjust, at least that is how I have done it before. Hope this helps. Mike.

tazmanfire Mar 26th, 09, 11:28 AM To All that made this information available.
Great help to me in getting my solenoid in the proper position.
I found that the throttle lever was mounded backwards.
angelglo Mar 26th, 09, 06:32 PM the repo switches suck. i had to do a bit of modifying and tweeking to get it to work properly and reliably. i also bought a nos one and it is a night and day difference on the quality. its just sitting on the shelf right now. i suggest that if you see one on ebay, buy it.
