View Full Version : 67 RS Z28 on Ebay.. WIW?
BelAirBob Nov 27th, 08, 08:53 AM Looks like a nice car. Not sure of the tag and such on the 67's, so maybe someone will chime in. Looks like it could get really expensive. Its at $77K, and reserve not met.

Norcoastal Nov 27th, 08, 09:24 AM That's a museum piece and a dream car of mine.
Living in Jersey, that location and huge open space is incredible!!!
Mark Rossiter Nov 27th, 08, 07:22 PM That's the first repaint of Mountain Green I have seen that looks correct. All of the others I have seen are either more silver than green or they don't have enough 'metallic' in the finish. Looks sweet! Just goes to show that you don't need a cowl hood or spoilers to have an awesome looking 67! Too bad about the reproduction interior door panels though. The repops are way too 'puffy'. The 'Michelin tire man' look is a dead giveaway. The sill plates are obvious repops too. Oh well. The spatter paint in the trunk looks pretty good, however.
Pay no attention to the minor criticisms - it's just my thinly veiled envy showing through.
Garfields Maro Nov 28th, 08, 02:22 AM WIW?.....Man, that's a good question....needs to be at a BJ auction to really know:eek: Looks nearly flawless in pics, interesting how he painted the cowl. Curious if all the undercarriage markings look correct?
Steven, livin out like this has it's drawbacks.....sometimes MUDFLAPS are required:D
Here's another for your viewing pleasure...in need of some TLC and WITH spoiler:yes:Yeah, must've been added later having the rear antenna.

No spoilers in 67
Garfields Maro Nov 29th, 08, 04:00 AM Thanks Claus, I forget the '67s were still in the developmental stages;)
Kinda surprised not many want to offer much input regarding this car. If authentic, which it appears to be, this is about as rare as a Z gets.... with RS no less! Guess being so rare, people really don't have a clue what it's worth....I know I don't.
FWIW, the Red '67 Z I posted has been relisted

BelAirBob Nov 29th, 08, 07:45 AM The red one would be a great car to restore, since it looks to be "all there". My guess is that it goes for $50K plus in its current state.
As for the RS Z, I have to believe its a $150K car as it sits, maybe more. Tough to find major fault with it providing it checks out to be the genuine article (which I think it is). It's not only one of 602, but its also RS. How many can be left? Very few, to be sure.
If this auction were held 2 years ago when the market was at its peak, it might have gone high $100's for the right buyer.
ragtop69 Nov 29th, 08, 08:00 AM i`m not sure of the value of the rsz28,but it is a nice one.
Terry C Nov 29th, 08, 01:33 PM The red Z looks fair, but I would like to know if that motor turns over or what state the block is in, also I would like to see some better pix's including the trim tag. I would hate to spend $50k and find out that block is trashed or the trimtag has been messed with! IMO 50k is about it on that car with the information available.
Terry C Nov 29th, 08, 05:00 PM Ebay removed the red 67 Z, anyone have any knowledge as to what was up with this car?
BelAirBob Nov 29th, 08, 05:56 PM Ebay removed the red 67 Z, anyone have any knowledge as to what was up with this car?
My guess is that it was sold offline. He said in his add he reserved the right to sell locally, so maybe that's what happened. It was up to almost $50K with 8 days left, so someone sure wanted it badly.
Zedder Nov 29th, 08, 06:53 PM It will be back up...ebay removed it because he put "not 68 or 69"...
Lost in the 60's Nov 29th, 08, 10:08 PM The RS Z is very nice.
Anyone notice the seller of the Red Z stated the trim tag build date of 06D and the pic of the block shows 0706 ?? Wouldn't that indicate the block was assembled at least a week after the car ?
Dale8346 Nov 29th, 08, 10:38 PM This car will not sell on line either.
And it should go for around $140,000.
Right buyer will pay more.
Garfields Maro Nov 30th, 08, 02:39 AM Mitch, good catch on the red Z, I didn't pay that close of attention. I guess you got that tidbit from the first listing? It says 06C D which equals June, 3rd wk...Red interior.Like Terry mentioned, I don't recall any pics of the tag itself? This numbers game for '67 is all new to me....I gotta look closely in a book to decipher this stuff! It's good they had this system for positive ID....why did they do away with it in '68??? Anyway, the first auction was "ended early because of an error in the listing". I don't care to speculate, I'll leave it at that.
Bob, while I had my book out:D I did a rundown on the RS Z and the only descreptancy I could find was the 760Z interior....should be Black standard buckets (760) with Custom bucket seat trim (Z). I didn't see the trim on the seat covers.
Thanks for posting it, think that's the first legit '67 Z WITH RS I've seen:)
NHBandit Nov 30th, 08, 06:35 AM never mind....

Ebay will remove you ad if you put the wording " I reserve the right to end this auction early" or similar because then they lose out on fees from the sale.
I believe the 0706 engine is legit for that car, as it has been the subject of discussion before. These were low production cars and certain dating ranges that exist for regular production do not apply to the 67 z/28 production.

760 is standard interior, Z is for bucket seats. The RS Z has the correct standard interior.

I state that i reserve the right to end all my auctions early on all of my EBAY ads and have yet to have the first one pulled. Just my 2 cents.
Zedder Nov 30th, 08, 08:49 AM I know the owner of the car and like I said before, it was pulled for the "not a '68 or '69" comment in the ad. Ebay does not permit that!
Jonesy Nov 30th, 08, 10:00 AM Well then I guess I have not been as lucky because they have pulled my ads and specifically for saying I reserve the right to end this auction early. Maybe it was the no reserve type auction I ran.

no, it was exactly as stated above:
"I know the owner of the car and like I said before, it was pulled for the "not a '68 or '69" comment in the ad. Ebay does not permit that!"
FWIW, ebay does not allow using "key word' spams in the ads
it confuses the searchers and likely one of them looking for a 69 turned the ad in
sort of like stating in your title: 68 Impala 4 door, not a Z28, COPO, Hemi or Boss
the obvious reason FOR using key words (Z28, Hemi) in my feeble attempt at an example is to "hook" the searchers of more popular items to look at your ad for your rusty 4 door Impala ... (and not "your" as in yours, your in this example as not being mine ... :) )
lots of people have figured it gets more looks to their ad but ebay (rightfully so IMHO) says no way to that tactic ...
IMHO, YMMV, etc

Thanks Mike, I didn't know that, I guess you learn something new every day!
NHBandit Nov 30th, 08, 11:40 AM I know the owner of the car and like I said before, it was pulled for the "not a '68 or '69" comment in the ad. Ebay does not permit that! I can understand that completely. There's nothing I hate more than misleading ads that are cluttered up with BS info like the one I saw today on Ebay. Said something like 67, 68, 69 Camaro Z/28 COPO Yenko Motion SS grille. So you have to click on the morons ad just to see what the hell it is he's really selling. Turns out to be just a plain Jane 68 grille which of course is not the same as a 67 or a 69 and is the same as every other 68 Grille ever made.. WTF guys, I'm tired of wasting my time looking at stuff that won't fit my car just because they think loading up the ad with more "keywords" will get more response. Or the guys who won't ship anything and list it all as "local pickup only" HELLO.... Why are you using a WORLDWIDE website to list your stuff ? Ever heard of Craigslist or maybe the local newspaper ? Now I'm off to list my original 69 Z/28 window cranks on Ebay with a $250 buy it now price.. local pickup only though....
blueZ Dec 2nd, 08, 11:50 PM As a follow up to the question about the 0706 date for the red Z on ebay , the casting date for the block is F307 and it is a 657 casted block. The PJ rear is stamped 0601 with the square traction bar still attached. The trans has the VIN as well. I have known the car for 10 to 12 years and it has been sitting inside for at least that long.
and Zedder is 100% correct about why the add was removed from Ebay...(it was my first attempt at listing a car there and the problem was an honest mistake on my part).
Thanks for all the concern and comments about the car...
thorpe67RS Dec 3rd, 08, 10:36 AM Wow, car only got bid to 78k. Sign of the times i guess. Couple years ago bidding for this car would have gone north of 100k easy. Ive seen other 67Zs in worse shape get there.
Jonesy Dec 3rd, 08, 12:22 PM Seems that 67 z's have never got the respect they deserve.

No doubt about that. But there was a butternut yellow 67Z on ebay a year or two ago that got over 100k. And it was in worse shape.
