Hey, I was visiting a friend who was showing off his Civic. Yeah there's craft there too. He was showing me among other things his adjustable shocks which are servo controlled and done from inside the car while driving! Holy crow! His were made by tein --is there such a thing for a first gen camaro? I gotta have some. I have KYB Gas-a-justs and I like them on the freeway but hate them on the streets of Spokane it's like driving with /no/ suspension. There's a reason the SUV is the dominate car here...
Any suggestions?

the new Vettes have a suspension like that- but i don't even want to know how much it would cost to get something like that onto an old car..

Tokiko (sp?) used to make a system like that, but not sure if they still do.

They have been experimenting w/ shocks that have a fluid in them that when magnetized turns into a "non-fluid" so thus dampens! Kinda like but not really like the silicone stuff that was put in the transfer cases of the old AMC FWD cars way back then.
The silicone stuff is really "Silly Putty" that can be rolled out and kneaded fine into whatever you want to make, BUT you hit it w/ a hammer and it turns "solid" instantaneously and shatters, it's that weird a material.
Ain't Material Science great or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps., Wheat flour in oil does this, believe it or not!

Throw those KYB's away ! Throw them as far as you can ! The only system I am aware of is the air suspensions that you can add air (or take it out) with an onboard compressor.

Vette's have had an optional adjustable damping system fornearly 20 years. Not sure such things could be easily adapted, but where there's a will there's a way.
I run KYB's too, and yup, they are kinda harsh.
On my "to be replaced" list.

Heck, I think?? a '55 Packard had a chassis self levelling system on it and the old Cad's too and maybe Lincolns!
Us kids would find one and sit on the bumpers of it and let them go up and down until the battery drained!

Well crud. I guess I have to forge some new ground here. I'll let you know when I've perfected the setup. There's such a HUGE difference needed between cruising around with the wife in the car and race time.
One more thing... anyone ever replace the adjustable slide-a-link bar with a shock? Seems like a good answer to me.
