I was recently rereading a post on Camaro Tech regarding a barn find 69 Z28. This car was a Van Nuys Car and the trim tag was 05A, and the YH wheels were dated K-1-9-1-26 YH or Jan 26/69. This surprised me that a 05A car would have Yh wheels dated 3 months prior to the cowl tag.
My Question is this - What is the normal time span between Wheel dating and cowl tag? Where Van Nuys cars further apart than Norwood cars?
Can any TC members with KNOWN ORIGINAL Yh wheels please post the dates and cowl tag dates? Many Thanks in Advance. Mike.

A few years ago I worked on a 04C 69 COPO Camaro that had one of it's original YH wheel's.
Dated K 1 9 2 Valve 2, or Feb 2 69

There are certain production dates made thruout the yr for YH wheels - and some months there were no wheels made. July i believe is one of them. So, the wheels were made thruout the production run, which means generally they would be anywhere before the car build and maybe 1-2 months. THere are exceptions of course - as im sure members here have a few. I do find it generally odd for WHEELS to have 3 months between car build and wheels dates. For a 05A car, there are april wheels avail dated 18, 19 and 21, . I have not seen March dated wheels (may have been one of the off months) and Feb, i have seen feb 2 and feb 21. So as you can see, there were wheels avail that an 05A car could have had beside the late Jan wheels.
Some info for you to consider.

I thought COPO's came with 14x7 XT wheels.
Unreal

Those were the stock wheels for the COPOs and SS's. COPOs could be ordered with any option, including rally wheels. COPO9737 included 15" rallys.

My car is a 03D build date and the original spare with the original spare tire was on the YH wheel. The date code is 2-28-69.
Hope that helps.

My car is a 3E car and the original (I was told) spare is 1/28. The tire was very dry-rotted so I asume this to be correct. All the other 4 were late in the year and not correct.

I have an 09C Z28/RS that I've owned for 32+ yrs. The rallyes that are on it .. were on it when I bought it. I'd never checked the wheel dates before a week or so ago, when I did so at request of another TC member. All wheels are YH and are dated 5 20 He questioned that, but I'm certain these are the original wheels, as there would have been no reason to replace them prior to my purchase in '76 (that I can think of)...
