Ok guys, im new here. Just signed up looking for some info and this looks like a good site. Ill use this thread for all my quesitons and progress, first ill start off telling you exactly what im doing..

I just got an 82 trans am roller, supposed to be factory 305 and 4 speed. I already had an older 350 engine that im dropping into it. We just bought a parts car camaro, i believe 84 or 85.. I got the 5 speed out of it and going to use it in the trans am with my 350 engine.

Here is the car when i got it.. Its not much but it will be something to drive and fun with the 5 speed. As long as it works its good enough haha..

Ok now that you see my car and what im planning to do. I have most parts for my project, but not all.

Here are some pics of that camaro we bought, mostly for the 5 speed out if it as it was still complete, obviously the engine isnt complete, But i wasnt planning to use that anyways..

Here is my 350 engine, i know its not pretty and its not much, It doenst run perfect but it does run. Im planning to do some carb work to it, most likely throw an edelbrock on it. But i wont get into that til after i get it runnning and ready to drive, i cant afford it right now.

Ok before i post up anymore stuff/pics..

I am wondering what are the torque specs for the manual tranny flywheel to the engine/crankshaft?

Then i need torque specs for the clutch or pressure plate thing to the flywheel, sorry i dont know the correct terms as im pretty new to this...

Actually i found these but want to confirm this is for my engine and what specs im looking at for what..

Small V-8 5.0, 5.7 & 6.6L Passenger Car - Truck Engine Bolt Torques

Size Usage Torque
----------------------------------------------------------------

1/4-20 Cam Thrust Plate
1/4-20 Crankcase Front Cover 80 in.lbs.
1/4-20 Flywheel Housing Cover 80 in.lbs.
1/4-20 Oil Filter Bypass Valve 80 in.lbs.
1/4-20 Oil Pan To Crankcase 80 in.lbs.
1/4-20 Oil Pan To Front Cover
1/4-20 Oil Pump Cover All 80 in.lbs.
1/4-20 Rocker Arm Cover 45 in.lbs.
11/32-24 Connecting Rod Cap
5/16-18 Camshaft Sprocket 20 ft.lbs.
5/16-18 Oil Pan To Crankcase 165 in.lbs.
5/16-18 Oil Pump
5/16-18 Push Rod Cover
5/16-18 Water Pump
5/16-18 Rocker Cover
3/8-16 Clutch Pressure Plate (All) 30 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Distributor Clamp 25 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Flywheel Housing 30 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Manifold (Exhaust) 20 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Manifold (Ex. To Int.)
3/8-16 Manifold (Intake) 30 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Manifold To Head
3/8-16 Thermostat Housing
3/8-16 Water Outlet 30 ft.lbs.
3/8-16 Water Pump 25-30 ft.lbs.
3/8-24 Connecting Rod Cap 45 ft.lbs.
7/16-14 Cylinder Head 65 ft.lbs.
7/16-14 Main Bearing Cap 60 ft.lbs.
7/16-14 Oil Pump 65 ft.lbs.
7/16-14 Rocker Arm Stud
7/16-20 Flywheel (All) 65 ft.lbs.
7/16-20 Torsional Damper 60 ft.lbs.
1/2-13 Cylinder Head
1/2-13 Main Bearing Cap
1/2-14 Temperature Sending Unit 20 ft.lbs.
1/2-20 Torsional Damper
1/2-20 Oil Filter 25 ft.lbs.
1/2-20 Oil Pan Drain Plug 20 ft.lbs.
1/2-20 Flywheel
14mm 5/8 Spark Plug 15 ft.lbs.

So the flywheel would be the part with gears around it for the starter, torqued to 65

And the clutch pressure plate would be when i mount the clutch to the flywheel, right? And then that would be 30.. I just want to make sure im putting the right values to the right components.

My other main question is about the clutch parts, like the engagement parts for the pedal.

The trans am has a mechanical one, where the camaro that i took the tranny out of has a hydraulic type one. I want to take the hydraulic one and put it in the trans am for the camarao tranny. How hard is this to do? Anyone done this before? I want to get the stuff out of the camaro soon as its starting to snow, well it did snow last night and now there is snow all over and its cold out, and the camaro is outside, no more room in the garage for it.

So the first time i tried putting the trans on the engine. I put the flywheel and clutch on. Then i put the pilot bushing thing on the trans and tried putting it on, now i find out i need to put it in the crank first. I guess which is why it wouldnt go on at first. Anyways it fits REAL loose in the crank shaft, and i scraped it up a little.. Is it usable or do i need a new one??

Wish I had done this before but I have not. I hope you get some help here. Manual clutch to Hydraulic should be bolt in. I not sure but if I seen the cars they should be like brothers. I will be watching to learn also. Where are you located we got the snow here at the same time.We are working on 86 IROC project. Hoping to move the stuff to a shop this weekend.

I think its an 84, maybe 85. Its the blue piecer in the pics. Im sure it will be bolt in deal but im wondering what i all have to take out and how hard its gona be. Pics are posted in above posts, if you cant see them then im not sure why not. There are multiple pics haha.. Im in Southern MN.

Wish i was doing a camaro instead, like the cars much better than the trans am, even tho they are similar, i just like the camaro ALOT more. Like the front end/headlight set up, not a fan of the headlights on my trans am. Camaro just looks better all around haha.. But i can live with this, cuz its what i got to work with.

All the parts should swap pretty easily. And since you have all the pieces from the donor car, it should go pretty smooth. As far as the pilot bushing it should fit snug in the end of the crankshaft. Where in southern miinnesota? Im in northern iowa.

Ya it fits real loose, im going to buy a new one. Just hoping everything else is good to go. Ive come to find i need a new starter also so even once i get the damn thing all in the car, i cant fire it up til i get a new starter which sucks, cuz i dont have the money right now.

Im in St. James, MN.
