Hey, i've got a 98' V6 Camaro and recently been having problems with the engine coils. However, that seems to have been fixed. When i accelerate from dead the car seems to have very little power and once i get passed 2000 - 3000 Rpm the power comes and goes in jerks, all of sudden theres power then no power, power then no power. Once im cruising in top gear and i need to overtake someone i have almost no response and it struggles to change down a gear and if it does, same story power no power. On top of it the car sounds different...any advice would be appreciated!

After that, change your fuel filter.

How does your car idle? is it smooth? Do you know all 6 plugs are firing? alot of times when a coil goes bad so does the ignition module (the flat plate the coils sit on). Did you replace all 3 coils and the ignition module? I'll assume the wires are new and the plugs have been replaced along with the fuel filter. If your car has no power and can only move under very light acceleration, then I believe your cat could be clogged.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem, my truck does the same thing (2000 Silverado 4.8 V-8). Changing the fuel filter always fixes it.

Disconnecting the battery on a 1996 (and some 1994) or new vehicles won't do a thing for codes. It will clear the learned idle and perhaps a couple other adaptive controls. Expect that the first startup after disconnecting the battery that the ECM will have to relearn idle. During that time, the idle speed may surge up and down (and nearly stall), but it should straighten up almost as soon as the engine gets hot.
