is anyone running 11" brake rotors with a 14" wheel?

cruising ebay i see various kits & spindles with 10.5" to 11" rotors that mention they will accept no more than 3 1/2" backspacing, but with no indication of wheel diameter being a problem - (other than the 12" kits which state specifically that 14" wheels will will not fit...) i know the stock 14's won't work, i have cragar SS's though.

thanks!! :)

The SSBC standard kits have a 11x1 rotor and the minmum wheel size is 14x7

I put the SSBC 11" kit on my Wheel Vintiques 14x7 wheels with no problems. I was happy with the complete kit and the instructions that come with it were easy to follow.

You need disc brake 14" rims is all.

I'm thinking that drum brake rims have a different rear back-spacing hoop contour is all that won't allow use w/ 11" disc's.

At least, I hope I'm right here??

Please go over to CRG and check.

Paul is correct, you just need 'Disc brake' profile rims
The stamped rim profile code for a disc will be "JJ". This code is stamped into the interior (covered when the tires are on) side of the rim, usually down in the rim valley area.
Drum style rims are often stamped "JK", specially the 'Rally' styles. These will not clear most disc brake rotors without wheel spacers - with I would avoid at all costs if you plan to drive your car much ...

Usually they are stamped pretty close to the valve stem hole.

I've never heard of a "14x8",is this a rally wheel? If so, it's most likely a 14x7 and you measured it's outer width will be 8" but the size is actually a 7", measured at the inside of the mounting bead.

Sorry, I re-read the post and I think you mention you have Cragers, so a 14x8 might very well be a normal size, thought it was a rally wheel.

i have 14x7 cragar ss rims with one of the ebay front disc kits and they fit. I did get some rubbing after a few months so I had to grind a little off the caliper bracket. Not a big deal.

do a search on my previous posts and there will be a link to the ebay kit that I bought. I'm very happy with it and it was a great price.
