I did the 'Search' and I think everything posted wasn't answering my question. How do you get the dash pad, the vinyl covered part, out? Also, any suggestions on the best replacement?

Sauron67MM Dec 16th, 08, 08:46 AM Year??? deerhunter Dec 16th, 08, 09:02 AM Sorry, 1968 Camaro coupe. Eric Kammerer Dec 16th, 08, 09:09 AM Did you see these? They describe it pretty well. I don't have any digital photos from my 68, so can't help there. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=132776&highlight=dash+nuts http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=140272&highlight=dash+nuts deerhunter Dec 16th, 08, 08:02 PM No, I sure didn't. Everything that came up in my search was metal related. Thank you. If you didn't live at the other side of the continent I would buy! Eric Kammerer Dec 17th, 08, 05:03 AM No problem. It's noted in those threads, but cannot be stressed enough, that you have to be real careful with the vertical "legs." I have seen many either snap off the plastic stud or even tear the vertical part clean off the rest of the pad. As far as the best replacement, there is a new vinyl wrapped pad out that is supposed to be nice; I know it has been discussed here. The urethane pads are, generally speaking, crap. If you have to go urethane, try to buy one locally or from someone you can trust, and ask them to inspect it for bubbles or poor molding. I had to reject the first two I got for my 69, and if I was shipping them back and forth, that would have added a lot of $$. Just Dashes can also restore your original if it isn't too bad. deerhunter Dec 18th, 08, 08:52 PM I see Classic Industries has one described as being "vinyl wrapped with a foam core" so this must be the one you were referring to. Just Dashes seems quite pricey after checking around their site. Thanks again. |
