They may sell TT but stubbings has some of the best parts... I will not cut off my nose to spite my face when restoring a car... I may not like it but until someone else makes correct parts... HBC can have my business...

I hear you Jim and I respect your decision. I just hope that you respect some of ours as well since some of us feel very strong about anybody making, selling (fake or real) TT's. To me its kind of like a birth certificate or your Social Security card. I would not want anyone messing around with mine just to make a bit of money...My guess is that HBC does not sell many of them and that it is a very very small % of their business so why get wrapped up in doing it at all...If they are the reputable business which I believe they are then leave it for others to make and sell...for example Mr. Bucket O trim tags on ebay.....JMO

I think $200 is cheap for a nice set of original brackets. I had a repop set that I reworked to the correct shape. Lots of work! Basically, I sliced longitudinally along crease, which allowed me to bend the correct "crook". Then welded up the crease. I had borrowed an original set to use as a pattern.
Then, of course, I found a nice set of originals, and used them! I always find that stuff AFTER I've put the work into the repops. (no PM's please, I sold the reworked ones a couple of years ago.

I would either buy the correct repops from Jim Stubbins, or watch ebay for a nice set. Don't know what Jim's sell for, but I suspect $300-400 for nice originals. I think I paid $150 or so, 5-6 years ago.

One thing that I have never gotten an answer to...I know the "incorrect" repop brackets are terrible with original bumpers, but they are so bad, I always thought they might have been designed to fit the repop endura bumper. Anyone ever tried repop to repop?

Just a quick question, how much heavier are the endura bumpers over a standard bumper?
I remember picking up one @ the Pamona swapmeet years ago & remember it was quite a bit heavier IIRC.
Then I said to myself,no way am I going to add more weight to my Camaro.:noway:
:beers:

O,
it is more than just air,it's sorta like the GTO or Trans Am rubber bumpers, thick steel w/a lot of dense rubber attached.
Part of the reason those old Pontiacs weigh so much among other pieces, like there engines.

HBC Jim does has good parts. It's just that some of his business practices have turned many off.

Enduras aren't light. I've only used GM stuff, but my understanding is that the repo bumpers are okay, but the brackets are bad.

That's the deal HBC brakets are DEAD NUTS ON... I took them and compared them to the originals on the survivor... they FIT the Endura gets a bad rap it's the bracket's guys. The guy at Ricks told me it took about 3 - 4 hours to get the bumper right... with their brackets maybe... with the HBC brackets no problems everythign pulls up just like the manual says. Identical in construction to the originals...

I weighed my repo endura last night. Painted with inner and outer nos brackets and bushings attached i got a unscientific 24 pounds on the bathroom scale. This did not include the large brackets that go to frame shared by the steel and endura bumpers. I will try to get motivated to pull a chrome front out of shed this week, its only 15 degrees out !

Dont give me to much credit it has not been on the car yet!!
cant say on original vs repo weight. i have had 3 repos over last 18 years and would estimate all to be same weight. cant imagine original being much different?
