Hi.Hopefully someone can help.96 Camaro 3.8..
The car started this morning and immediately cut off..
I checked the fuel pump relay and found good supply voltage (12 volts)to the relay from its orange wire and when I turn on the ignition the dk/blue-white wire from the pcm completes to ground but no power comes from the red wire to the pump prime connection.
I initially have power to the fuel pump from the relays grey wire but it cuts off after about 2-3 seconds..And during these couple seconds of power from the grey wire to the fuel pump it dosen't come on that I can hear.
Does anyone have any ideas..Thanks

It is normal for it to come on for 2-3 seconds when the key is initially turned to the run position. This is to prime the fuel rail, the relay will turn on constantly when the PCM detects RPM and activates it, or when oil pressure closes the contacts of the oil pressure switch. If you have power and ground to the pump, most likely cause is faulty pump. It's a lot of fun to do a pump in a 4th gen, have some beer ready for after you finish the job:)

Thanks..What about the red wire coming from the relay that goes to the "fuel pump prime connection"should it not have power?..No prob if I have to replace the pump.I will cut out the back panel for access to the pump and then fasten a piece of metal over the whole..No way I'm gonna make a 2 day job out of a 2 hour job..lol..I just wanna be sure the pump is bad before I cut the rear deck..I would attach a diagram but don't see how to...

Is there a port on the fuel rail to put a pressure gauge on it? That would give you a real time readout of whats going on insofar as fuel pressure is concerned. The question is if the fuel pump is indeed toast, how do you get an initial few seconds of run time with zero fuel pressure?

The car wont start.I don't think the pump is running..What I don't understand id that there is no power from the red wire going to the prime connection.I think I'll access the fuel pump and run a jumper wire to the fuel pump.If it is any good that should start it shouldn't it.
