: Camaro Performers feature!!

Well, I wanted to say a big thanks to Nick Licata and Chris Shelton for the feature in Camaro Performers magazine. It's been a dream of mine to have a car featured in a magazine like this.

Nick made it happen, and I want to thank him for that. To all that don't know it's not easy to get a photoshoot done on a car when you are north of the border and not in the Southern US or East coast.

Chris was a true professional and I think you can see in his photos and his write-up. Real funny, great guy to hang out and chat with (and work with!) and I really appreciate him making the trip up here to do the shoot and scout locations.

I just didn't have the time to head south for a magazine shoot especially with my recent business move.

It is a true honor to grace the pages with such great cars and builds like many members of this site and others. Pretty proud for my first build mostly done in my garage with help from many good friends.

Anyways, here are some photos and make sure to buy this issue!! :D

Ryan,
What is the exact color and process?? The mag stated tri-coats of red over silver base... Can you elaborate?.. I love that color:hurray: and since I dislike the oh so common red camaro's, that is a huge compliment.. The color looks like a very cherry version of black cherry.. It makes the car !!!
When I was reading the article, I was hoping I was gong to turn the page and find a pullout poster:sad:, your car deserves that honor....

Thanks a bunch, the color is a candy red from Glasurit. House of Kolor also makes these types of paint.

The car is first painted fully with a silver (or gold) base paint, then many coats of the red are sprayed over top. The red is transparent and the more coats you apply the darker the color. Then the clear, hence being a tri-coat.

The paint does look unreal in person, and is so deep. But it's also a bodyshop's nightmare to apply and especially to repair or match (which is almost impossible)

It is also very hard to paint parts separate, so the car had to be painted completed for all the panels to match correctly.

Yes, my body guy said he really didn't want to do a 3~stage and at $1000 per gal (I needed 2 gal) I agreed :D
There's an orange (tangerine?) Chevy P-up down the road, color is beautiful, but you can see light and dark splotches (heavy and light coats) which looks like $h*t

Rybar, I was told touch-ups (stone chips) were hard to fix too.... any insight ? or you been lucky not to get ?
Have you thought about that clear stick-on stone guard stuff like newer cars have ?

Does look great though (I'm jealous  :D)

Sharp lookin car Rybar! Congrats on the mag feature!

Jim, I would look into why you havent recieved an issue yet. I think I have gotten about 3 issues since I registered to get them. Before they started subscriptions i was finding them at 7-11 stores, and magazine/news centers. They only put about 5 issues in each store and they go quick.

Thanks Doug, i've been lucky so far. Honestly, the body and paint are far from perfect so I'm just planning on driving the thing and repainting a few years down the road.

Hey man, that is a badass Camaro. I love that color, it is beautiful. I remember when I got that issue and saw your car I HAD to show my girlfriend because I was amazed at the color. She agreed and thought it was nice also.

Keep on enjoying and taking care of that sharp looking Camaro you have.

Don't get me wrong, I am anal about it. But my paint and body is far from perfect. So, I will drive it and I can always redo it down the road.

Belive me I understand but the fact is your going to drive her and what I ment by them being a badge of honor is people will know it's driven and kept nice at the same time. I love seeing a nice trailer queen and awsome paint but I really like seeing a car with a little signs of enjoyment and I know it's not perfect but the main thing is that it's being enjoyed, driven and used to bring smiles on the faces of those driving and those seeing it drivin.
I have repsect for anyones project but I personally like the ones that get driven and used vs those that just sit and look pretty.
