While removing everything on the car, I noticed this on the RH side of the sub frame. Looks like it's been hit. Also, the radiator support on the RH side was welded in place at an angle to fit "the new lokation" of the hole in the frame.
Comments please - would it be possible to rectify this one without changing measurements too much?
Plan was to pull the sub-frame, the engine and tranny, steering components and brakes - and blast it and powder coat it after I had if "straightened".

And another question to all yourestorers out there - When re-assemblying your sub-frames - did you use rubber bushings or what? Pro's and con's please.
RH side looks like this:

and LH side like this:

Hey Swedish, after I got a closer look on my 67 convertible it was obvious that my car had seen many dirt roads with ruts considering it was from back country of Iowa and the subframe was bottomed out on many times. I placed an ad on Craigslist in the Seattle area and was able to find a virgin early 67 subframe identical to mine for $150. There are differences amongst years so you need to pay close attention to the details before putting a replacement one on. Many years fit, but if you are a purist then you will want one visually identical. With all of the guys out there pro touring thier Camaros the supply of good clean subframes are out there, at least in my area. Good luck. PS. its 15degrees in Seattle right now and we are expecting a large wind/snow storm this weekend. Finding it very hard to get motivated to work on my Camaro. Merry Christmas! Jeff:beers:

Looks like an easy fix with some heat & a BFH. Is that the only damage you've found ? You might want to have it professionally checked while it's stripped but from what I see it looks very minor. I don't imagine there are alot of good used subframes floating around the junkyards in Sweden.

Yep, the Seattle blizzard is now on local radar. Yikes! At least I started and warmed my car yesterday. Brrr. 26° right now. How's the weather in Sweden Swed?

May be you can borrow a tram gauge from a body shop and check it....

NHBandit - You're right! There are not many sub-frames floating around here. Probably none. I thought it would be possible to fix it with some heat and big 'ol tools. Will check angels and measurements once it's stripped.

Fred: Looks like our weather here is better than yours. We've got 0 degree C (guess that's 32F ?), clear blue sky, no wind and a beautiful sunny day:yes: If my 67 hadn't been stripped.....

It's snowing STILL as I speak. We've got a foot or so. Might quit in a day or two. Hey, I'm a big FAN of global warming. Wanna know why?

365 days? Not since the early '70s. And it's still snowing. Going past two feet.

Swedish, that is an early 67 subframe, not too many of those around. I don't think I even have one. I would add heat and a few smacks of the heavy hammer to assist that one and it looks like it would be fine. Bet you have a Aug to OCt car? Looks like a good project.:beers:

Just to answer a question of snowfall, on this side of Washington St. we only see a trace to 3" annually on the average:D

Hi Vintage,

Yupp, it's an "october car". Very solid with only minor rust.
Removed the tank last night and it was very fresh. I think I will end up buying a new tank since I found a small pinhole like leakage on the upper hand of the seal. I'd like to have a non-painted tank. Just clear coat with new nice black straps.
As far as the sub-frame goes - How could you tell it's an early frame instead of a later one? And yes - will try heat and, as seen in one of the post above, a BFH.
