I have a 69 SS 350 and want to keep the original exhaust manifolds. Who makes the best complete system with tailpipes exiting the back like original and will use original hangers. I put a complete 2" system in a few years ago with the transverse muffler but I would like it a little louder and thinking I should move up to at least 2 1/4" with dual mufflers.
Any suggestions?

the answer is easy, Gardner exhaust in new york, system is exactly like original right down to the hangers. Installs to perfection in a hour or so. and the owners are pleasant and very helpful. they can be reached at 1-845-758-8003. www.gardnerexhaust.com

I used Gardner on my Firebird 400, quality is second to none as is their service. I'm not sure if they do systems that don't replace the stock ones. If they do I'm sure it will be perfect.

Summit Racing sells a dual exhaust system made by Hooker that will mount to either headers or manifolds. It comes with hangers, no welding involved. Its dual exhaust all the way back (no transverse crap) and I believe 2 1/4" pipes, which is plenty for a moderately healthy small block. You have to purchase the mufflers separately. Which is fine because you can pick and choose between the various offerings, depending on taste. IMO there's no point in spending extra for stainless steel or custom made exhaust. If you drive your classic like most folks (no snow storms, hurricane rains, etc), this exhaust will last you for a long, long time. I've gone this route a few times with various different Camaro's and always been pleased with the results and the relatively low expense. The exhaust exits under the rear pan with downturned tailpipes. I put all the pieces in place, lined everything up, got it all even/flat/straight, and then tightened everything down. Just take your time.

If you want original Gardner is the only way to go. I have installed 3 of their systems on 3 70 camaro's BB and SB, so easy a caveman can do it!!
