Wow, cool stuff here. A buddy of mine (Chevelle guy) has done a ton of history on Truppi-Kling, knows the family well, even recently came close to having the famous Truppi-Kling SS/EA LS6 Chevelle 1:18 scale model made, but it fell thru.
And, I worked at Wallace Chevrolet in the new car prep + body shop back in late 69 thru about 72. Many cars were stored at Linden airport, we used to draw straws when picking up certain cars (Vettes, Z28's, Yenko Deuce Novas). Rt. 1 was the route back to the dealer, if I recall.......say around 10 am, roll onto Rt. 1, stop, look around, bring RPM's up, ........:D. Ahh, to be young and stupid. :beers:
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 08:13 AM You must be talking about Kevin Bierman.Heres some Wallace Chevrolet names from the past,John Mason,Frankie Johansen,Doug Pitchell,Carl Bronfman.Do you remember a black guy that was a Wallace mechanic owning a JL8 rear disc brake 1969 Z/28?

Yea, Kevin is my buddy, we still build BB Chevelles, working on his currently.
I remember Frankie and Doug mostly. But the real character, and the reason Wallace Chevrolet was into race cars I think was Carl.
The father, Walace Bronfman was setting up one son, Elliott, to take over the business. The other son, Carl, was a knucklehead, spoiled kid who just wanted to drive fast Chevys. Carl ordered the hot cars, drove his dad nuts. I remember when the Yenko Deuce Novas got delivered, Wallace looked at them and shook his head, asked Carl something like, "what are we going to do with these things, are you nuts?". Funny stuff. Carl even in the early 70's ordered Cosworth Vegas. :beers:
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 08:39 AM I went to the Rutgers library and went thru the micro fish on the newspapers back then, found old Wallace ads,one for selling 1969 427 Camaros!Wallace sold a bunch of COPOs,I know of a original owner 1969 Wallace X-11 Copo 427 Camaro with endura bumper.Kevin knows me.I also recently sold a 1962 E/MP Red/White/Blue Vintage time capsule motored Truppie/Klng Corvette.
Yea, cool place back then. I was 19 in 1969 and was like in heaven working there. I wound up in the body shop where we did some custom Vette paint jobs. We were known as the Corvette Performance Center back then. Hood scoops, spider web designs were big then.
Performance area of the shop was always busy; cross ram upgrades on Z28's, L78 Novas, Yenko Deuces, 427's Vettes all over the place.
Jerry@CHP Jan 3rd, 10, 09:00 AM I bought a 454 crankshaft from Kenny Koonce in 1976. Used to be partners at Watergate Exxon with Leon Merianon. Kenny's son now runs in Stock Eliminator, think they're in NC now.

1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 09:03 AM By the way John Mason was the original owner of a Burnish Brown Wallace 1969 Copo 427 Camaro. Frankie Johansen owned a Wallace Black 1969 Copo Camaro called the Hucklberry Hound which I'm sure you know. There was Wallace Lemans Blue 1969 Copo Camaro owned by Esposito a Woodbridge cop. There was a Wallace Daytona yellow 1969 Copo almost bought by George Vega of Elizabeth NJ.George told me if he wasn't getting married he would of bought the car.Rumor has it that it was wrecked in a accident. There also was mentioned of Silver 1969 Copo Camaro. Did you know Herbie White,Whites Sunoco or Whites Performance on the border of Elizabeth/Union NJ? Seems it was a local hang out for street racers.

Don't remember all the names, but I remember Frankie Johansen hanging around, picking up parts, everybody knew the Huckleberry Hound car back then.
My hang out was Rogers Speed Shop. Whites Sunoco was the local place to fill up with Sunoco 260, always cool cars around there just hanging out. The thing back then, 427 Camaros, etc. was not that unusual. Wallace, Briggs, and Malcom Konner had all kinds of cool things going on.
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 09:18 AM Yeah Doug Pitchell told me the ran a black 427 Corvette at Englishtown back then.I heard Wallace was more into HIPO stuff then Rahway Chevrolet. All the guys that I've talked from back in that time period, that being many said Wallace was the place to go. I saw a 2 owner time capsule Wallace Chevrolet 1969 Burnsh Brown Nova SS L78 4speed car about 4 years ago.Its got some neat Day2 stuff on it and saw brief time at the dragstrip at Englishtown.Car sits on a lift and its in Excellent showroom condition too, unbelivable! Can not be bought, his son gets it.
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 09:24 AM Yes Rogers Speed, believe its still open under new owners.I talked to Roger, lives in Naples Florida. By the way Herbie Whites still alive ,met with him recently.I had a picture taken with him and me to prove it.Herbie knew everyone back then.
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 3rd, 10, 09:25 AM I know who has the Huckleberry Hound COPO 427 Camaro!
I know who has the Huckleberry Hound COPO 427 Camaro!
Wow, I figure Kevin Biermann probably knows also. I just gotta find a cool Camaro this spring. Sold my Vettes and Chevelles over the years, have a nice C6 convertible, but thats just not the old muscle car feel & sound.
musclecarkid Jan 3rd, 10, 09:58 PM Wow, cool stuff here. A buddy of mine (Chevelle guy) has done a ton of history on Truppi-Kling,
Kevin Who?
Doug, If you want to check out a few of those old Wallace Yenko Deuces from your youth, I got some connections. I believe the Red Survivor Deuce is in South Jersey.

I broke that car in @ 7,000 rpm's on E. Linden Ave. in 1970. We called that "new car prep"! Had to make sure it was running right for the customer. :D
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 4th, 10, 08:08 AM Hi Kevin,Tommy K has that one,Marlin helped with the deal I believe.Levi Holmes told me about his friends car and how much he loved it .Tommy K was really lucky to get this car away from the orignal owner.Original drivetrain, paint ,body panels and orginal owner, from Wallace Chevrolet Linden NJ! Stan Germanski had a Wallace Silver Duece and Bob Festa had a Wallace Blue Duece.Blue ones not found, silver one is.I know of another one besides those...
71LT-1 Jan 4th, 10, 08:24 AM Hey Dan, I thought the Huckleberry Hound car was sent to the crusher?? Is it still alive?
Mike
1968Motion427SSNova Jan 4th, 10, 08:34 AM Mike,The guy who owns it bought it directly from Frankie J.I have a copy of the original title with Frankies name on it,old NJ brown title! I believe Frankie said it was the 1st 1969 Copo Camaro sold at Wallace Chevrolet in Linden NJ.
71LT-1 Jan 4th, 10, 08:47 AM Does it still get raced?
