 I am going to swap my auto to a 4 speed standard on my 69.. and I really need some info as to what all I need to do so.. I have found a 69 parts car that has the standard pedals,, can you guys tell me what all that I need to take off of the 69 to put onto my 69,??... Do I just need to take the pedals only, or should I remove the mounting brace, or any rods or what,??.. Can I use any of my original parts.. please give me any and all advice as to what to do, what to look out for, and what not to do.. Has anybody bought the repops that are available,??.. would I be better off just buying new repops, do they fit or work just as well,?? someone told me the plastic sleeve/bushing is junk on the new repops, and they will split.. Help,, Help... what to do..

You will need the pedals, plastic bushings, rod that goes from clutch pedal to z-bar, z-bar itself ( small block bar is different than big block) bracket that mounts z-bar to subframe, along with adjustment rod to clutch fork, and return spring. Good luck with your swap. The upper mounting brace is the same for auto & stick

The pedal bushings, Z-bar pivot stud/balls, and the clutch rod boot are still available through GM.

Don't forget to grab the column lock/reverse linkage bellcrank and rods, and the neutral safety switch with the harness. (the one for the clutch pedal) Might I suggest that while you are at the donor car, make a tracing and take measurements of the shifter hole in the tunnel to transfer to your project car.....Jb

There is also a clutch disengagement switch and linkage which, I believe, doesn't allow the starter to engage without the clutch being depressed. It's a round electrical switch which mounts on the pedal support. Also, maybe the brake light switch could be different. Another thing a 4 speed has is the reverse ignition lock linkage going from the steering column by linkage to the reverse shifter arm. I believe many guys may have this feature disabled because of headers. I'm not sure if these two features will transfer from an auto to a 4sp. car. Possibly the reverse ignition lock linkage could work withe the original "park" locking feature (I guess it would have to have been a column shift auto). And maybe the clutch starter switch could be wired somehow with the neutral/park starting feature wires. I don't know how far you want to go. I hope this isn't too confusing.

What are the odds that the {"column lock/reverse linkage pivot and rods, and the neutral safety switch with the harness"} have been removed.. Is this something that usually has to be removed when the shifter and tranny are taken out of a car,??... Is any of this under the dash, or just under the car..??... I appreciate the info and advice,, this is the kind of information I am looking for.. Thanks..

The bellcrank is on the engine side of the firewall. It might be there. Some guys just disconnected the reverse rod and left it hang. It didnt necessarily have to be removed when the shift linkage was removed, but chances are that it was taken out also. I remember removing mine because it rattled. I drove for many years turning the column base to lock the column and get reverse lights. The clutch linkage switch and harness is under the dash on the pedal assy. The reverse light switch is on the upper side of the steering column under the dash
