I need to change the gauge cluster on my camaro, speedometer/tach isnt working. Can anyone tell me if when changing the cluster on my 1997 camaro will the odometer be correct because of memory in the computer or will I have to list as unknown mileage once I change it?

i think that you are "supposed to" write down the before and after mileage, then get it certified by the state somehow.
but in reality, unless you have annual inspections where they note the mileage, i wouldn't worry about it.
this is assuming that the mileage is stored in the cluster and not in the ecm, in which case, it should read the same.
that car has a digital odometer, right? if not, then it will read whatever the new cluster says.
i know that after owning my 94 Caprice, i don't trust the digital odometers. mine would sometimes randomly lose or gain a thousand miles at a shot- while i was driving down the road. i could see the thousand mile number change while looking at it. it seemed to lose more miles than it gained- so when i parted it out at 227,000 miles it might have actually had 250,000 miles on it...
