Where is the vent located? That is more important. If it is close to the ring gear then it needs to be moved out to one of the axle tubes.

All vents are going to leak a little. If this is just a wet spot then you might consider it normal. If it is more than that then you might want to try a different type of vent.

Have you ever heard of putting a braded hose up to the frame and have the vent higher.

Ya, my 9 in was spitting oil with just a vent (on the left axle tube) too.
I just installed a barb, and a 15" to 18" piece of fuel line. Routed it up high and no more mess.

You can see it here. When the rear end is in the car, the hose tie strapped up high.

Yea, all 4X4 trucks are done that way. It will work, just not too attractive IMO. But oil running down the housing isn't either. Mine has a damp spot around it most of the time. I have it all the way out where the housing end is welded on. I had it close to the center and I was loosing a LOT of oil.

This is why I was thinking braided hose with an fittings and the vent up high....
