View Full Version : My hood on the 70 Bill Jenkins street Camaro
JOE58 Dec 28th, 08, 03:44 PM I have been looking for pictures of my hood on the 70 Bill Jenkins street Camaro.
I have one BW picture from a magazine but that was it. Now I found these.
It is an all steel cowl induction prototype hood made by Chevy Engineering. They were going to scrap it but then gave it to Bill Jenkins for his street Camaro.
I bought it from Bill and picked it up at his shop with a documentation letter from him.
Bill built the 70 street Camaro to use for promotion dates that the real drag car could not make. Bill J was very busy in 1970 and built this Camaro to look like his Pro stocker and used the street Camaro as a show car. He removed the hood before giving the car back. The hood still has the original paint as shown in the pictures.
This car would be a cool find

1968Motion427SSNova Dec 30th, 08, 07:27 AM Richie Zul ended up with this car and made lots of changes to it,like change it to a 1974 body style.Richie still builds motors I believe. I have the ad from National Dragster when Richie Zul was selling it...
jd502 Dec 31st, 08, 07:42 PM Dan you said that to me ealrlier today, now hat I think about it ,I think it was that car. I remember something about the taillights from a 74-77 rear pan. Was the car ever in MD? Also spoke to my brother he said the car had the bigger back window 74-81 in it at that time, and a newer front clip. Dan does that correct.
1968Motion427SSNova Dec 31st, 08, 09:23 PM The whole car front and back sheetmetal was changed to 74 and up.The roof and rear deck with 70 rear window stayed too.Not much left of the original 70 car.Found the for sale ad for Richie Zul's 427 1974 Camaro.
