is this a good deal and can i get a manuel tranny put in with no problems?

this is what he says is:

First off serious offers please... I have an F body hardtop 1989 Chevy Camaro RS for sale it is a 5.0 v8 Automatic it is running strong with 22,783 original miles on it. The body is in pretty good shape just a couple minor dents and the paint is faded and surface rust but no holes. I am willing to fix all body work if willing to pay for it, transmission does not slip. Will need a radio I had a custom box with 12inch subs already sold, and the car will also need a tune up soon, and tires are not in best shape, honestly I do not want to sell because I can easily fix everything myself but need the money to get a bigger place besides I have two, and I have no need for two Camaros asking for 1200 obo…

Matt sounds not bad as is without Trans swop, but auto to man trans ,you got a few big ticket items to look into rear gear change ,and speed control system PCM hook up ,being a 89 PCM's I think are not user friendly reprogrammable or plug and play change out of sensors and wiring auto to man. you may have more into the change of trans than the car ...Happy Motoring

I realize you live in the rust belt, but I would question why a car with only 22k on it has rust, needs tires, and is only $1200. Are you sure its not 122k miles? Before you buy this car, bring someone with you that knows more about cars than you do. Look for things like worn rubber on the gas and brake pedals, all the original stickers in the engine compartment, and a nearly perfect interior. The current owner should have all the original p/w and maintenance records proving low miles. Take the car for a drive and make sure the speedometer works correctly and consistently. (I once bought a 'low mileage' car, only to find out the speedo only worked sometimes and then not accurately.)

$500.00 tops. An 89 with 22000 miles should have been cared for a lot better than what you are describing.

I would say pass.If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.If you pay.... he will do the body work ???? what kind of crap is that.Is the body in that bad a shape he isnt interested in clearing that up to incourage the sale ????.Putting a 5-speed in it as long as you have a "Donor" car for all the little things is about a two day job on average. That depends on how much of the work your willing to do yourself. The 5-speed will really make a new car out of it if its in any shape to start with.Just my .02
