67 camaro - stock frame-502-big block-patriot headers

header hits steering box, needs suggestion? Different header? Or dent header for clearance. Wanted to use uni-steer set up, found out won't clear pan on 502 big block.

Thanks for the quick reply, but don't really like the look of the header. Will look into other alternatives.

Are you using the correct big block frame stands to offset motor?

Definitely make sure you are using the proper frame mounts and that they are mounted on the proper side (don't ask how I know :o ).

I had to clearance my headers even thou I had the proper mounts, used a slimmer steering box and got the headers that Holly recommended that should "fit":

Mounts ok . Looks like you have the right idea a small dimple to make things clear, doesn't need much, just not sure of the outcome of smacking a ceramic coated header?

Wish my motor was in so I could take a picture. I didnt have any clearance problems with the stock non p/s box using hooker super comps. I am using big block frame stands with solid motor mounts.

I can tell you that If:
you are using the correct Big Block Engine pedestals and mounts,
you have the right pedestals installed on the correct side,
you are using the correct Big Block transmission cross member,
you are using either the correct stock GM manual box or the correct stock GM PS box
that:
Hooker pn 2111 (supercomps, 1.875" primaries) or
Hooker pn 2205 (supercomps, 2.0" primaries,
will fit just fine, they will not contact the steering box, you will not need to dimple the primary tubes to clear, they clear the clutch cross shaft and they hug up nice and tight to the cross member so as not to have ground cleanance issues. The only issue and it is not a big one is installing the cluch cross shaft return spring as the headers are in the way of the original (AIM) installed position.

Installations that differ from this ( different, non factory, steering boxes for example) will probably have their own unique set of issues.

I have some pictures I could post if anyone is intrested.
:beers:

Sounds like hooker super comp headers could do the trick. Please post pictures. I am useing hydraulic clutch so return spring won't be a problem for me.

Here's one of the LH side, pleasee excuse the dust, this is an ongong project. But, you can see how the pipes for cylinders 2 and 5 clear the stock PS unit.

no problem. Headers that say they fit a BB69 should fit, you should not have to dimple primary pipes or modify the header to make them work. And normally when everything is checked out, it turns out that the motor does not have the correct motor BB pedestal/mounts and the correct BB cross member. Not to say all headers are perfect, but it does help if you use the correct BB parts.
