Can someone please tell me how to remove and reinstall the pointer from a 67 column shifter. I painted it last year and it did not turn out good. It seems to move, but I do not want to break it. Thanks for the help.

It should come out easily. Remove the clear plastic gear indicator then put your fingernail at both sides at the bottom of the pointer and pull it toward the steering wheel. The only thing holding it (unless you got paint behind it) is a very small flat matel stud at the bottom of the pointer that is pushed in to a hole in the steering colume.
